more DIY stuff with pics...I made a top from egg crate, back edge looks strange, but I needed some opening in the back left chamber for a couple of things. I will be painting the top and the fuge light cover (plastic) black this evening so everything will match. I also made the baffle insert for the back right chamber. It's curing now but I'll get some pics of it in place when it's ready.

got love using the kids wooden toy food to make everything all square

Very cool. I've started keeping acrylic and egg crate stocked too. That and some zip ties and you can make just about anything in a pinch.
Good to see all the DIY progressions! Looks like its coming along well.

wow, looks pretty good. i like the whole frag plugs idea, very creative, i just might have to copy you. lol
i think you should have gone with the way the rock wall looked before though, it would've been NICE. but it still looks great, and very creative nonetheless.
i also love the light schedule, but is that not too much light for the fish? or are the leds dim enough so it wont bother the fish?

pumps have finally been shipped. There must have been a run on rio hyperflows (6HF). I originally ordered from aqua.cave because they were listed as in stock, but they weren't shipped and they said the manufacturer was out too. They I had the exact same thing with the drs, but finally got confirmation of shipment from marine.and.reef.
I also picked up a couple of small peices of live rock rubble covered in coralline, chaeto, and a cup full of live sand from a friends tank this weekend.
I'm currently running the MH lights for 3 hours a day and the fuge light for 12 hours. I figured that I keep this lighting cycle until the tank is finished cycling and thne I'll gradually work it up to 8 - 9 hours for the MH.

hey man, as you know, im trying to do this whole rock wall thing myself, and im still thinking about either using epoxy and sand, or just some portland cement. so i was wondering what epoxy did you use? any help is appreciated.
cant wait to see the tank up and running. its gonna turn out nice with all those frag plug holes!

I don't still have the bottles but it was the epoxy recommended in Kannin's build thread on reef.central. i picked it up as a hobby store. i don't think you'll find anything at Lowes or Home Depot.
I was happy with mine the way I did it, but the concrete might help weight the structure down.

oh, ok. i know what your talking about. i went to my hobby store yesterday, and they dont have any sort of epoxy! i was like, wtf. and the closest hobby town is about an hour away. so i might just stick with the concrete. thanks man.
btw, i hope your cycle is a quick one. i hate having long cycles

thanks, I'm hoping the tank is ready by the first week of august since I'll be coming home from FL with a bunch of my collection (currently stored in one of my mom's tanks).

My new office building is about done, it's been a long year of planning and construction. This tank is going into my new office so here are some pics, not really SW related but it's a cool building.
front

main lobby, who else has a bar in their office lobby :)

4 conference rooms off of the main lobby with glass garage doors

each conference room has 4 internal over head doors so they can be split into 4 sub conference rooms. the doors have life size graphics of cities around the world

bathrooms are sinkless, water pours directly on to slanted counters

pic from inside of my office looking out to central common area

blurry picture of the jbj nano cube stand and where the aquapod will go in my office

view from common area looking in

view from standing in my door way up the stairs in the main common area. there are 2 rooms just to the right of the stairs with windows to the common area (visible in pics) that are the 2 central "Wii rooms"

view looking straight up from just out side my office, 4 10 x 10 sky lights (notice the t5 fixtures too!)

thanks, that picture actually isn't very good. it's metal but more like a screen then a sold material and it comes off of the building at about a 30 degree angle, so they overlap in the front right corner and then are probably 20 feet a part at the left edge. We'll also be building a structure over the left side of the building that will contain 30 urban/modern condos. It's been a fun project.
