Yeah I've only checked 1 place so far on the light mover.....Haven't checked my regular suppliers yet, just getting tons of ideas....Trying to keep the electrical cost down on the setup.......What type of reflectors are you looking at?

just what i have right now...reflectors that came with my PFO retro kit...I don't have money for nice new reflectors right now...maybe down the road though...otherwise i'd look at some lumenarcs or spiders...who knows

I'm wondering what exactly your planning on growing in that box!
googling circular light movers brings up some peculiar sites.

lol, what would you like to know...here is my rundown since i havent really gone over it:
3--400w PFO Metal Halide ballasts(one dual, one single)--
3-- 20k XM bulbs(i think)
3--optimal reflectors
2--possibly 2 110w actinics
1--Tunze 6055s for the wavebox
1--Tunze 6095 multi controller for wavebox
1-- Sequence 5500 for spray bar closed loop
1-- Iwaki55RLT or Panworld 150PS for return from refuge(i think)
2-- drains for refuge( 1 open[far left]- 1 closed[middle] depending on flow needs)
2-- returns from refuge
1-- drain for closed loop(far right)
2-- 3/4 or 1" spray bars running right to left on back of the tank
4- 4" fans for cooling
0-- Skimmer unless i get alot more fish than i think i am....i hate them..my tanks have looked much better without
0-- calcium reactor unless i decide i actually like sps and clams
tropic eden sand
tons o live rock
heaters out the wazoo
I've been trying to think how i want to do the front...i obviously want a canopy on top so i dont have to try and stretch 30" from the back so i dont fall in,lol....i want to do some sort of tile/stone...but have to figure out how exaclty to make it look nice and what not.

lolol, look up lightrail light movers...they seem like a very cool idea having it move from one side to the other having even more of a sunscape...even though i'm not sure if it'll help a ton, but its a cool idea(depending on cost)

Ahhhh
wouldn't they like to know what you could grow with the circular light movers.........
I think they are pretty neat, and I think any type of light mover would give you a little better growth and more balance look in your corals, since they wouldn't just sit under the lights and grow that way, and it would more simulate natural occurances in the wild being the sun moves and isn't fixed.......

I think 400's seem like a major overkill for the tank though......

really? if I'm having to go 40 some inches 250 will only do 36" deep....i don't know...i'm going with 400w most likely...I've used them before compared to my old 175w and it was day and night differences between the brightness that reached the bottom of the tank

Luke, if you have the room, build a platform around the tanks perimeter. Or maybe even a couple steps surrounding it, so you can get up higher and stand on it to reach all areas of the tank.

I havent thought of that, i may have to...but i still think i want to do it from the front as well so i can see from the front side as well instead of being backwards...but we'll see.

Google sketchup is cool, and its relativaly easy to use. I was wondering, what are the dimensions of the tank? How much live rock are you planning on putting in it? How much sand (if any)?

dimensions are as mentioned....it will be 130 x 30 x 30" ...i'm not sure how much live rock or sand i'll be using, but quite a bit of it...the sand will be 2" deep or so...and rock will just fly the whistle and see.

That's what I've been using to layout my new tank specs....love the program....Still need to learn to use it better though, but truely amazing and free.....
The platform idea is a good idea!!!!!!
I was thinking about doing that for my inwall cube setup, it would be easier than lugging a ladder around in the fishroom......

lol, very true...i can see myself trying to stretch wayyyy up to the front bottom corner on a ladder so i dont have to go around again....pushing my tiptoes on the ladder as it falls over, my face goes in the water, hit my stomach on the tank rim and fall over the back,lol.....that sounds like great fun!
