Hey Bronco,
You got me to thinking about something when you said "money to run the electric".
Do you have plans for a UPS system or generator if the power goes off? And don't forget about GFCI outlets for your safety, too.
Just the electrician in me wondering aloud, ....Jim

well no generator...i do have a battery backup power strip, just have to buy a battery for it...maybe get another just to provide backup for at least a pump and heater to keep it going till the power can get back on.....as for gfi, those are a given...there will be gfci breakers put in specially for it, so thats covered.

Just a thought for your battery, if adapted correctly, I have used a car battery to add more amphours to the UPS system. But I would use a more powerfull one than the strip kind. Under a heavy load they wont last very long. I use the APC brand that is used for computers. They also power condition to keep you voltage cleaner.( I know your made out of money because of all those money trees you planted)

I know allmost everyone knows about GFCI's but I think it's worth mentioning so everyone gets the point...Jim

Man that would be awful! I'd boycott!
Just kidding. I'm sure you're even more excited than we are about getting this tank up and running... best of luck in doing so!

Sorry about that Bronco, didn't mean to lose you, Being a retired electrician I just think everyone knows about that stuff.
Check this out http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1157067061643.
Hey, how many Money Tree seeds can I buy for $5.00
Jim
haha, one of those, i see i see...we have one at work for the main server...but that seems a lot for only a couple hours backup...seems just as cheap to get a generator--then all i would need is the fuel, but it could last much longer.
i'd sell you one seed for $5...but i should warn you that results MAY vary

The part about a couple hours of backup is where I was talking about using a car battery for more amp hours. Most UPS systems have a way to add battery power. It depends on load on how long the backup would last. If you use it on pumps only and no lights it would last longer.
Don't forget a generator must be outside to run, something about carbon monoxide poisoning.

1 Seed for $5.00? I'll take my chances.Do you take pay-pal?

If you go the big battery route go with a deep cycle battery and by a battery conditioner, and a battery box to keep the mess down.

A deep cycle battery is designed to be charged then drained then charged and drained. They use them to run trolling motors on boats. A battery conditioner will slowly trickle charge your battery so it is always charged, and will extend battery life.
If you use a lead acid battery like a car battery or a deep cycle battery they can make a mess with acid. A car parts store will sell basically a tub that you can set a battery in so the mess is isolated in the tub.

I'm beginning to wonder if you really have any money tree seeds at all......

Oh by the way, how's that tank project going?
Got Pictures?

Definitely you want a generator Bronc. Harbor freights got some cheap chinese ones if moneys the issue. Don't use a car battery for charging and discharging. You need an automatic charger(conditioner) and a true deep cycle battery, if it's rated anywhere on it in cold cranking amps it isn't a true deep cycle battery.
BTW........ My money tree seed is paying off, thanks. I just gotta get some zip lock baggies and some good scales to go along with it. Also for some reason my house has become real popular with long haired, Tye dyed T shirt, moccasin wearing people. They're not a problem, I'd just like to be able to set on my couch and eat some chips every now and then.
