Ok, as I am cleaning everything, I need advice on powerhead placement. I have 2-#4 Koralias, 3-#1 koralias, and 1-Mag 7 koralia. How would you place them.?

The concern with placement in your tank is all of the rockwork.

I would certainly get one at least lower, maybe on the right side towards the bottom front, to blow across the open sand to keep detritus from accumulating there. Then since you are getting some in the rocks, perhaps some placement where they are blowing intoon the rocks to keep detritus off of them. Like maybe in between the islands in those two open spaces about 1/2 way down the back wall?

Ok. Will place two of the #1's half way down the back in the open spaces between the islands. What about the #4's, and the mag 7? That thing has excessive flow lol. I have it on a wavemaker so it isn't on all the time.

So, as I was cleaning I noticed my snail population has dwindled. Last weekend I added a couple big turbos, they are munching away. All banded trochus are MIA. So, I just placed an order for 15 more, along with nassarius snails, and a new cleaner shrimp. Should be here Tuesday. I hope the b. trochus have lots of babies like before lol.

You know......I tend to "lose" a lot of snails too......I thought it was the hermits so I banished them to the refugium....and I still "lose" snails
I don't get it...as much money as I have spent on snails, I should have a snail farm

Yep. Crazy. I still have margaritas, turbos, astreas, nassarius, but no banded trochus. Oh well, just gotta buy more lol. :)

Snails seem to dwindle in some of our tanks. I know I need to boost my population up.
Funny you guys mention this, I've seen my astrea snails "dwindle". I've had them a bit over a year now and one by one they get slower and slower, then stop. My mag is a bit high, 1470+, and wondered if that could be contributing (I *think* I read somewhere that high mag and some snails don't get along well). I also wonder if the population is simply balancing to the available food supply.
Dead astrea = nassarius convention...nom nom nom...
When I replace them, I'd like to try some trochus; read a lot of good things about them.

LOL. Lunch for the nassarius... The banded trochus are good, and like I mentioned earlier they reproduced in my tank before. With dinos, it will kill the snails :( After the major cleaning the other day, I don't see it coming back as quickly as before. Wishful thinking lol. But, my chemipure elite and fine filter pads will be here today and I will fire up the fx-5 filter to help me out here.

You have one of those as well, FX 5 - monster of a canister filter. I have tons of baby snails in my tank, need to get a mantis tank set up lots of food for him.

Okay, snails and new little, and I mean little cleaner shrimp have arrived and are currently being acclimated. All are alive and are moving around like their starving!! Time to feed them lol.

I got two new cleaner shrimp a couple of months ago they were tiny - they grow really fast, they only live for a couple of years IBT

Yeah, I just recently lost one of mine out of nowhere
. The one I have left is a giant compared to this one. I wanted to get it smaller, but this is a tiny baby LOL. I really enjoy having them in my tank though. :)

He is cute, will the other cleaner be OK with this one. I have hundreds of trochus babies in my tank and sump.

I just put him in. He is staying in the corner. Big Mama just came about 5 in or so from him and totally ignored him. I had trochus babies before, and hopefully these guys will produce more....
