Well, since I am a very impatient person lol, I replaced a small section of sand today. Also, since switching back to instant ocean salt, I can really tell a difference. My corals are gaining their color back rather quick. My green monti cap that was close to browning is getting back to it's bright green. Wonder what was in the salt that my tank didn't like. I mixed it exactly like the bucket said. I dunno. Good news though is that everything is looking better. Other news, I found an aiptasia, killed it, and one of my cleaner shrimp had it for lunch lol. It picked away the aiptasia x gunk, and ate the whole thing!! lol. :)

Must have been like that crappy fondant icing on his cake! Just peel it off and get to the good parts... ;-)
I forget, what salt were you using before?

Yep! LOL. You should of seen him. I had switched to aquavitro salinity months ago. I just switched to instant ocean about a week ago, and I am seeing a transformation in my tank. Polyps extended, good coloring, etc. So I have concluded that aquavitro salinity did not mesh well with my tank...Oh well, saves me money LOL...

Ok, just to update. The algae is worse on the sand that was not changed out. The new sand looks great so far. Changed out all my filters today on my RO/DI unit. Also, I had to frag my setosa and tyree bicolor acro. STN. I believe I had an alk swing that started this when I switched back to IO salt. My parameters are stable now, but once it starts.............. So I feel sick to my stomach that I had to frag the setosa. :( But I had to try and save a piece or two!! Fingers crossed that the frag pulls through...

Good luck.......I still get a spot or 2 of the "weird" algae on the sand in the 225G
NO CLUE what it is.....I just keep it stirred up

Keeping my fingers crossee for your setosa as well.. if it makes you feel any better, you can read about my stupid mistake and have a laugh on my expense. Im doing water change as I type this.

Frag still looks good. Pale, but some polyps were out. No STN on it at this point. The tyree bicolor frag is doing good too so far. Fingers remain crossed lol.

Yeah, so far so good. It is still up in the air though. I have 20g's of saltwater mixed and another can currently filling up. I am gonna try and do a 20%-25% water change tomorrow, and set up a small 10g QT for saturdays coral purchases.

Ok, question for you all. I really need to take my refugium off the tank and give it a cleaning/revamping lol. What are your thoughts of keeping sand in it, or should I get rid of the sand? I am just not sure if I should just suck out the top layer that has some ??algae die off?? or something on it and leave the rest.

Honestly, I don't really see too much of a need for sand in fuge... my macro algae seems to thrive with out it. It just gets messy for me so I do it with out it.

Fuge is completely empty and setting on the counter. Not going to the swap.... Guys..........Dinos are back........I am done. This tank has been nothing but a headache from the beginning. And for anyone who says I should of drilled it, dont kid yourself. Even that would not have stopped a dino invasion. I dont know what else to do. I am thinking of restarting the 75g back up. that means my tangs have to go.. Not everything we do can be a success.....this is a huge failure.

Yeah, crazy. But I am done. No changing my mind on this. Sip, I cant even feed my corals. I put in some coral frenzy last night and this am the dinos are on the rocks. So, I think that they have been there the whole time. I must not have killed them off with the peroxide dosing. Which is something I didn't like to do in the first place. I am sitting here trying to figure out what to do with my livestock..... and wondering if the dino I had in the old 75g could possibly live after sitting in the basement for two years....or if I should just buy a new 75g. Hell....I evidently like to throw my money away.......

Thanks Meowzer. My hubby got home and said, try to fix it. Surely there is a way to beat it.
Setting up a new tank will be alot of work he says..... UGH, not half as much work that I have already put into this tank!!! I am just over it. Tired of suctioning constantly, huge water changes, etc. It's time to face the fact. And ya know, anyone who says they beat dino are full of it. So, I think I am gonna clean the 75g with bleach, and see how it goes. And I am still working on the little 20g nano for my clowns.... I would have gotten some beautiful corals tomorrow too!!! That really sucks.......
