I was feeling the effects of upgrade syndrome already.
I honestly was though. I didnt plan for the upgrade..already..but this just kind of fell into my lap. I hope it all goes through!

180's are nice....... Just remember there will be a lot more to spend down the road........
Bigger lights more rock etc,etc.etc......... Isn't this a great addiction to have!!

I would go the 180 too. Dual overflows are nice. That will be alot more movement and filtration. I wish I had duals but it takes up too much room in my setup...
I think if you don't get it, you would be sorry later. Plus used equipment and deals on stuff rated for a 180 are still pretty easy to find. It's once you get over 200 that it becomes REALLY pricey. That equipment is like specialty stuff.

Thats what I was thinking too. It will be more pricey, so it will definately be longet before the tank is up. I will keep updating this thread though. I just emailed him and may be going to see the tank either tomorrow or the next day.

Bad news.

I asked the guy if I could come see the tank tomorrow (today). He said sure. I then got an email this morning that someone called him last night and said theyd come pick it up right then. So he sold it to them. I was one day too late.
I was really looking forward to having the huge (to me) tank too.
So I guess its back to the 75g. I never told the guy with the 75 that I was asking about the 180g. As luck would have it, the filter he is using for his upgrade (from the 75) broke. So he wont be taking the tank down until friday. I can get it saturday if I still want it. I do have a photo of the 75 if you would like to see it.
So...no more building, no more 180g. Eventually. Unless something pops up on CL between now and saturday..looks like Im getting the 75. Which isnt bad for a starter tank, I think.
Im still a tad disapointed, though.

Bummer deal... Check your LFS too. I searched CL for two months and was a day late, sometimes hours. I missed a 135 for $50 by literally minutes
I got my 125 brand new from that "SmartPet" store for $300 Kinda spendy but it's brand new so less to worry about ya know

Yeah. Bummer. If I find a better one by friday, I will tell the guy. But as it looks now, Im taking the 75. Not a bad deal for $150, I think. Tank, Stand, Overflows, Plumbing for the overflows, and he said something about throwing in his PC light on it too, but thats not official yet. Heres a pic sorry about the quality. It was from a cell phone:

It's a nice tank. I really like the color of the stand. Some advice- I just bought my new tank off CL and I got the plumbing too. Don't use it. Just redo it. It'll cost you 40 bucks (maybe) in plumbing supplies at Home depot, and it'll save you sooo many headaches. We tried to use ours, got it all together, and put water in and it leaks from every angle. No amount of tape, silicone or cement will stop that either. We then had to spend more money to have a pro come out and do it from us... It was bad. We should have just tossed their stuff out. ALSO- DO NOT RE USE BULK HEADS!!! No one told me that, and I did and it was bad news bears. Just buy new ones. Don't cut corners. It never ends up right. Ends up with 75 gallons of your floor. You will need, new fish, new floor, new water AND new plumbing.... JMO

ahhh. mark! so sorry to hear about that! dont worry the 75 is a good starter tank! plus when you do decide to upgrade, the 75 can be your sump/fuge!

Or the 75 can be a scorpion tank!

I will eventually probably get a 125. I like the size of those. Very nice choice to me. Im going to email him tonight and ask what the flow rate is on the overflow. For the return pump..its always a little under what the overflow is rated, correct?

Nice thread started I am excited to see the end product.
Glad to have you on board. Its most likely going to be a bumpy ride....and maybe lengthy.
So he emailed me back and is using a mag 5. Works for me.

Ok, so I am seriously considering an off-brand light. Only because it is less than $50 more than the NEpro 6x54W fixture and it comes with 2x150W MH bulbs and 4x54W T5HO bulbs. The best part is all the bulbs come in my choice of color temperature so it is basically custom bulbs too. What do you think? I can send a link to anyone who wants more info on it before posting an opinion.
