so just an update.
Everyone is doing well. The foxface is really not happy with his new tank mates.
He spent all day yesterday sulking about and turning brown... little brat. He is not happy that the tang took his cave and that the tang also likes the veggie pellets, so he now has to share.... silly fishes.
I am also going to try to get a decent picture of the purple tang. I have been dosing vitamins and giving him good food, and the nip on his head already looks much better! It wasn't big, but he def took a beating. I don't mind, I got him for chhheeaaappppp... They sell for like 150 here and the same on some competitor sites so I am happy. I never see these guys... Aren't they sorta rare? I have never seen them in an LFS before.
The anthias are doing well. Henry PMed me back and told me that the angel was establishing dominance and that he would stop. (which he has.) The anthias swim around alot, and are healthy eaters. All is well.
I always freak out now, when adding fish, since the achilles died.

yeah I just don't have an acrylic mop. They're like 50 bucks locally. I can buy them online for like 25 bucks... with the replacement pads. I just wanted to wait til I start my new job. and FYI it's actually the water. I dosed marine snow today and also coral frenzy lastnight. I don't run a skimmer so my water is super cloudy for like days at a time. I can't wait for january when we get the new skimmer!

it's a like a swiffer made for acrylic tanks.
The guy who made my tank out of 1 inch thick panels, so I have to have a specialty magnet that is strong enought to scrub and stay stuck throught the panels.
The nice ones are like upwards of 150 bucks... Really lame.
Also, I don't like that sand can get stuck in the magnets and then scrape the acrylic, if you don't catch it.
With the mop, you can see what is trapped under it, and it's a really soft pad that doesn't scrape so much as it's like your hand rubbing.

So the tang and the fox face DO NOT get alone. I have completely decimated my tank to try and get them. I have take about 80 percent of my reef apart and I still haven't caught either of them.
Tell me... that foam that people use to make foam walls in tanks... does it need to be cured? does it leach things? I am seriously contemplating taking all fish out and redoing the rock work and then filling all the voids that are atleast large enough for the tang and what not with the foam and them covering it with coral and algae. I am really tired of having to take all this crap out.
I also think there is something seriously wrong with the fox face. He needs to go in the hospital tank and I can't catch him. He is breathing really heavy, his eyes are clouded over and he is turning almost black... this was BEFORE i started stressing him out... FYI.
I am seriously not patient enough for this hobby. I am getting sick and tired of this.... blurg!

alrighty..... I ended up having to take out about 80 percent of my water in the tank into random buckets and bowls and things around the house. It's a freaking mess again!!
I am using a technique that I like to call "dry landing..." I can simply scoop the fish up in the net when there is little to no water in the tank... I can also get a water change done at the same time!!!
I got out the purple tang and the foxface. The tang is okay... the foxface is not looking well. I have been chasing him for hours and he finally gave up, not he is in the hospital tank and I don't know what he has so I can't begin treatment. No one will respond to any thread. I have one here, one on fish discussion and one on the disease forum. I am not sure what to do at this point, I can only describe symptoms......

alright... before the pictures I would like to update again.
The tang is being sold on CL... I am just not keeping him... sucks cause he was awesome and I got a smokin' deal on him.
The foxface is in QT and I have started a little copper. I don't know what he has but it's something. His eyes are cloudy and he does have a few white spots on the body, not on the fins though. The stuff I got is for ich, velvet and internal parasites...so If it's not those things, It may be popeye.
I have just purchased a ton of fish from SWF. com and here is why.
The foxface does not do well with new additions. He also does not like fish that are bigger than he is. So I ordered the last 5 fish that I wanted and I am going to put them all in together and I made sure to get nothing that will bother the foxface. He is really good with all of my other fish that are not bigger. And the rock beauty and he are buddies, and they are pretty close in size, but the fox is still bigger.
Here is what I got:
x1 1-2in hippo tang
x1 2-3in sailfin tang (the desarjini or whatever)
x1 harbour goby
x1 longnose hawk fish
x1 6 line wrasse
and some more snails that were on sale.
And then I got a free cleaner clam... so we'll see how that goes...

I am really sad guys. I think my foxface is dying... I don't know what I can do for him. I am trying to give him vitamins and things, but I don't know if I reacted too late. He has been doing this hard breathing thing for sometime, but he has always eaten and been active. I am really sad... I can't find any information and he is not doing well. He has been in the hospital for a few hours now, and he still looks very patchy.
I went in and I found him alive, but he was stuck to the intake. He is totally lame, and can't even get away from a HOB filter current.
I am really really sad. He was one of my favorites to watch.

Hey girl. Sorry I can't help you with figuring out what your foxface has, but I can wish you luck! I thought (for some reason) that your tank was like a cube. I get all these threads mixed up! The new purchase sounds great! I wish I could do that.. just spontaniously get online and order all the fish I want! lol! Anyway, it sounds like you have it under control and doing the large water change is a huge plus IMO. Because dont they always say that the first thing you check is your water? Well, good luck with the fox face, and be patient with him.

Honestly, IMO, the worst thing you could have done was take the foxface out. You just stressed him out even more by chasing him around the tank, especially since you don't know what he has and you can't tread him, you should have just left him in the DT and feed him vitamins and what not as it would be much less stressful to the fish. Stressed fish + more stress = not good at all. I'll read your posts and see what I can come up with for the foxface.
