Just a suggestion, but in that tall of a tank, pouring your new saltwater into the return pump section of the sump and using your return pump may be the best method for adding the new saltwater to your display.
Looks great so far man. I like how you positioned your powerheads. I also like all of your positive and negative spaces - and how it balances out. I also like how you were able to create dimension by utilizing the height of the tank.
I'm getting excited for yah man. It's been months in the making! I'm ready to get my tank up and going!

I would, but remember my return pump is DOA at the mo'. So for now it's gonna be heave and pour, heave and pour. Wanna come help? It's not too far from Louisiana to South Florida....

HAHAHA, now... you know you don't have to fill the tank up until you get all your equipment in order, right? I was just kinda going on the assumption that you would wait to get a new return pump impeller before filling up the tank.

Trust me man, I've done my share of heave and pour over the years. LOL. That is, until I got SMART. lol

You know, I ordered SMART. $39.95 on HSN. Still waiting for it to come in the mail.
You might be right. The smart thing to do WOULD be to wait for the impeller. But.....we're THIS CLOSE. I can taste the salt (although that might be the horse tank WC from today). Seems like it wouldn't hurt to at least start some of the filling. It's going to take more than a couple days of LFS trips anyway to do this. We'll see.....

My back might be giving me the finger tonight. I loaded 6 jugs in the back of the van this morning, for an afternoon LFS trip after work. 30g of new, tasty salt water will be coming home tonight!
Now, I don't know if it's actually going IN the tank tonight. Might be, might not. I have to schlep my water up the stairs, and by the time that's done....the laziness factor might be kicking in. We'll see. I also want to get the sump connected and equipment run, and I'm sure that's going to take an hour or so. By the time that's done (and Dinner, and cleaning, and feeding the animals, and all that Real Life Crap...) it might be too late.
I didn't waste any time with that impeller Saturday. I ordered it right after I was done moaning about it here on the boards. Hopefully it will ship out today and I'll have it by the end of the week. Fingers crossed. When I get a few spare dollars** I'm going to order an extra return pump just in case.
**"Spare Dollars." Yeah, right. Who has that???

Awesome!! what kind of salt do the LFS use and be sure to check the salinity. I have seen many LFS's salt water fluctuate tremendously.

Richard, the water my LFS uses is actual seawater. But even so.....you're right, testing for salinity and pH is a very good idea. Will do.
I also picked up a monti cap at the LFS while I was there for the horse tank (pics in my 37gt horse tank thread). I was SORELY tempted to get a little Pocillopora frag they had as well. There was Pocillopora all over the place in Hawaii, and I want a couple colonies for the big tank to remind me. I could keep it in the horse tank for the time being......

OH! And I just got an email notification - the seahorse handles have been delivered!

Dude, if you are willing to make a drive down, I will give you a nice size frag of pocillopora for free and a heiniken for your drive lol. If you need hook ups with montis I can also get you hooked up with my friends who will give you probably 4 x4 size for about 15 bucks. 5-6 different types of monti as well. (I got red monti, idaho grape?, ling sing something, brown monti, strawberry something, superman monti, chocolate chip monti sorry for the not so sure names lol)
I have a ora green bird's nest probably 3x3 with many branch that I can give you for $20. (Bought it for little more but I have two and I'm thinning out.)
I also use NSW as well and it's been great for my tank. I use 20g water change every other week and it's been great. Be sure to dose your tank with two part if you are going to go with sps because NSW's alkalinity will always be at 8 and you would want it maintained at around 8-10 consistently. I found that it was dipping towards lower lvl without dosing. Then again, I was adding corals like crazy person lmbo.

Hey, I'd love to! My weekends are tied up for the rest of the month, but let's see about a Saturday in September. It'd be nice to come down and meet you and snoop around your tank!
