Sounds good buddy! We will plan something up. I will be sure to give you alot of freebie frags to start out your tank lol.
Nah, that's kind of ya, but I don't want to impose. Well, not too much.
I will definitely take that pocillopora off your hands though if it's taking up room.
Krista, thanks for the kind words. It's definitely getting there. It's been a long haul, though, and there's still so much to do.
Speaking of which. Tonight turned out to be a "take care of the Wife, who had a long hard day" night. I still got the sump in place, most of the wiring done, that sort of thing. I mounted the wavemaker in the electrical cabinet. That sort of thing. Will the water get added? I don't know. It's late, and I'm tired. It's up and out of the car at least.

I lied. Here's the first 30g. Maybe 36 - they always overfill the jugs so they're practically overflowing.

Funny, it looks so full! I'm curious to see how many actual gallons this holds after the sand and rock.

You know, I may have to get another small bag of black sand. The base rock has been dry for so long, there were bits of it flaking off when I started adding seawater. Now it's a salt-and-pepper look on the sand bed. Not bad, but I would like to clean it up a bit. We'll see.
Notification that the impeller SHOULD be here by Friday. Fingers crossed. I'm going to kick start this with the pure ammonia method of cycling. Leaving now to pick up more seawater as well. My only tank chores tonight are filling the tank some more and mounting the new seahorse handles. And running my gob about it online, of course.

Er, it's pretty much finished now! The only thing missing are the handles, which won't be that obvious anyway.
Or did you mean a finished, filled, FTS with the sump running and all that jazz? 'Cause I'm anxious to see that too!
I just got back from the LFS. It's a good thing** it's right around the corner from my work. I can go there on lunch break. I needed a new 24W T5HO for my QT, and I picked up a bottle of Microbacter7 while I was there. I'll be using that to kick start the cycle once the ammonia is established. My tank funds are running low, though, so I'm going to have to take it easy for a few weeks. I hope to pick up some anthias soon....I had hoped to be QTing 2 blue chromis and 2 anthias (separate tanks) while the cycle was completing.

Stay tuned. Video uploading. With my narration. Flower, if you thought YOU sounded funny (you don't btw...) get ready for a laugh.

I just finished the last of today's water chore. I also measured the jugs, since I mentioned they always overfill. Each jug holds 5.5g, so as of tonight I've got 66 gallons in there so far. It's almost full, too. I wouldn't be surprised if my 110g aquarium only held 75g of actual water in it, lol. Just guestimating, but I'm thinking an extra 3g in the overflow and probably 20g in the 29g sump, so...98g of true volume. Curious to see how close I am to the guess.
On another note, I definitely need to move my powerheads. Got all kinds of sand dunes building up here and there, and bare glass showing.

I've been waiting for this for MONTHS... and you're only getting it half way filled?!?!?! lol
Yeah, I know you don't like to go barebottom.

Today will probably be the last of the water additions. More empty jugs in the back of my car, ready to be filled. I got the handles on the access panel last night, but I need to cut the screws down with my dremel since it's such a thin panel. Might do that tonight.
Feel like the wind's out of my sails right now. My male mandarin, the big dude I've had since 2009, went to that great big fishtank in the sky last night. I don't know how old he was when I got him...he was a pretty big guy....but I think he got sick from something. He had slowed down a week ago, stopped swimming all over. Couple days ago he stopped eating and it was downhill from there. I had a feeling he was on his way out yesterday, but I was still hoping he could pull through.

Yeah, it's an unfortunate aspect of the hobby. I don't like loosing my favorite fish either. I hope he gets to go swim with the other fishes in the sky. Sometimes there isn't anything you can do...

Well, he was always fat and happy until about a week or so ago. Only thing that changed was a 10g water change on the 28th, then a 5g WC on the 5th. If it was a bacterial infection I'm worried that it may affect the female. I'll keep a close eye on all of them to see if anything pops up. Fingers crossed that this was isolated.

The bummer is that this couple was supposed to move back to the big tank after it had been established for a while. Now I'm not sure if I want to get another male, or leave the female by herself in the horse tank. She's so small, she'd get lost in the big tank by herself. They were both mysis-weaned animals, any new male I get would likely take a while to train on mysis, so it would be at least 6 months before I thought of getting one.
