I just got back from the store again. 20g of water should be the last of it - 10g for a seahorse WC, 5g for the last of the big tank, and 5g new plus 5g from the horse WC so I can do a 10g WC on the QT tank. I checked with the guy who orders the fish, and he said there MIGHT be some Evansi's in stock next week....so I guess I'd better set up my second QT tank. LOL. Need to hide this one in the guest room so the wife doesn't see it right away....

But you know that's not how it will really work. Have you ever actually tried to HIDE a functioning tank? Doesn't work.

Lol. Your funny nova. I could just imagin myself tryin to hide an aquarium in my 400sqft apartment from my wife. Lol!!

yes,...... yes I have. But then again, trying to hide it in the master bedroom....................... not a good hiding place.

As soon as the impeller gets here, I'll do a new video. Not much to show, but at least it will be officially running!

In my defense, it was a little 5.5g tank that was acting as a QT that I sort of requisitioned and turned into a fully functioning tank. It took her all of 2 days to realize there was more than just water and a plastic decoration in it. Some words were exchanged when she realized the new situation.

Laugh now. You may not get another chance! Besides, these kinds of things are immediately funny to the right friends.
So...my impeller came in today. Hold the applause. The rubber stoppers that fit on either end of the shaft are BIGGER than the ones that were on my old pump. And of course the ones on the old shaft have long since disappeared. Doesn't fit.
Thankfully I was able to shave them down a little with a razor blade...basically turning the round pegs into little octagons....so they fit now. But I KNOW that this is a temporary solution. So...unless I can get new rubber impeller centering rings from somewhere....it's going to be a new pump for me in the very near future. Crap.

Mark today as the official start of the cycle.....pump is installed, everything looks good. Still need to fiddle with the valves to get the level right....and the tank is a cloudy mess.....but it's up and running!
It's been a long road to get to this point.
I didn't fiddle with the powerheads tonight. I'll play with those this weekend, after I see what the return jets do to the flow.

also how goes the anthias hunting? In my honest opinion, they are poor shippers and you should get them all females and that you should get them only if they are eating.
