I left the bicolor blenny out because I haven't decided if my tank is going to be too full at this point. Other option would be a pair of barnacle blennies...they're small, cute, and would be fun to see poking out of the barnacle clusters.
I have to go buy a little rio 90 or something. The aqualifter is NOT strong enough to push the ATO. Kept on petering out. :-/

A couple more pics of the Bartlett's Anthias in QT....

Day two of the QT and I went into the guest room to discover the Dispar's tank was really cloudy with something greyish-white. I have no idea, other than to wonder if it was a bacterial bloom. Fish was doing fine, and he ate everything I threw at him today, but I added a little Clarify to the tank until I get some SW ready for a WC. The Clarity did help clean it up...whatever it was...but it was freaky to walk in and see a murky tank like that.
I'm really taken with all three of these anthias. Hope they all make it through QT quietly. Since the DIspar is the odd man out, and smaller than the others as well, I will add that one first after the QT period and follow up with the Bartlett's about 2 days later....just to help him establish a territory.

So.....yeah. Anthias jump.
No, no....."jump" isn't the word. "Propel themselves out of the tank, 6 feet into the air, at rocket speed" would be the correct phrase we're looking for.
I was doing a 5g water change on the 20g Bartlett's QT tank tonight. Guess what happened?

I saw him, tried to catch him midair while still holding the siphon tube (THERE'S an image for you), missed my midair catch but scooped him up right away and plopped him back in the tank. He's swimming around and acting OK now, but I'm waiting to see what happens tonight. Jump like that could have caused internal injuries. Fingers crossed.

That may be the nicest compliment I've heard in a long time!!
(Wait till you see my latest story.....extremely Lovecraftian in tone)
The fish survived the night, and ate like a pig this morning. I think all is well....but I'm still watchful. Hoping he'll be fine when I get home tonight.

I definitely agree. Your writing is very entertaining Rick.
You should read his discription of Skitter when I meant to write Skeeter, and he wanted me to understand the difference. He is an awesome writer.
So...+1000

That's because "skitter" is a word. As in,
"The foul, nameless thing detached itself from the shadows behind the door. It skittered quickly across the floor on dirty, cracked claws that jutted out from its body at unnatural angles. The clicking sounds its talons made against the cold tile invaded her dreams, making her toss uneasily in her bed. Slowly the thing pulled its ponderous bulk up the side of the bed, ripping into the sheets as it gained purchase. Mismatched eyes peered down at the sleeping form, and broken tusks clacked together in anticipation as it reached one spindly leg out to prod the morsel awake....."
OK. You get the idea. Sleep tight tonight.

Yeah, I think he's a pretty big fan of scifi...
I knew the Douglas Adams reference would be right up his alley. He kind of had that writing style when talking about the fish. :D

Douglas Adams was The Man to talk about when I was in Jr High. I still have a copy of "Hitchhiker's Guide..." somewhere in my stash. You know he came up with that concept while lying drunk in a field outside of London when he was trying to de-hangover himself? Apparently all he had at the time was a towel, or so I've heard.....

LOL Yes you do!

Day three of the new fish QT, and I'm happy to say that all three anthias are doing well. The Fish Who Wished For Wings seems to be OK, no obvious issues or sluggishness, so I may have dodged a bullet there.
Some new pictures, since it's fun:
The view of the tank from my Spot (yes, I'm Sheldon) on the couch:

Random picture of a sleepy kitty (since you see her back in the picture above):

I'm sure Lois will like that picture, even if no one else does.
I'm trying to get the actinic photographs to look like Real Life. Hard to do with a cell phone camera, but this is getting close:

And a FTS from next to my thinkin' chair. You can see the first wave of nuisance algae has come in, but it's already starting to recede in places so I'm hopeful that it won't last too long.

The rose coral again. Parts of it are browning on the edges...I'm worried that it's from the light being too strong. What do you think...is it time to move this coral down a bit?

Finally, a large piece of Kenya Tree coral that I moved from the seahorse tank. That stuff grows like a weed...I've given two little frags of it away, I have a small frag plus this piece in the new 110g tank, and last weekend when I was cleaning the horse tank I found TWO new buds that had dropped off of the mother colony and were in the back of the horse tank.

I would move the rose coral down a bit. The build is coming along nicely.

Thanks! The LED is only on the right side right now; I'll get the second one soon enough. I figure the Anthias will be in the tank by October 1st, so I have a month to decide what my next batch of QT fish should be.....I'm thinking it will be time by then to include the sifter goby and one of the wrasses.

Whew!!!
I am finally caught up on this. I got side tracked around post 225 and the darn thing got away from me.
The tank looks awesome!!. I love the rock work and the way you hid the powerheads. I have used the controller on the Evo's and it worked well. I did have a little clicking sound when they turned on. What frequency do you have them set to?
The fish in QT look good. You are going to have lots of movement when they go into the big tank.
The LED's make every thing pop. Nice work!!!

Every 10 seconds on the controller for the Evos. I'm really excited about the fish coming in, but I also want to start adding a few coral frags. Must wait and get my second LED before I really go coral-crazy....and still need to test PAR before I get the second light! LOL.
Hey Sip.....ya still friends with that dude who has the PAR meter?
