Well, it's definitely as bright as a MH bulb. The rose coral I have near the middle third of the tank started browning out when the LEDs were done, but seems to be better when I cut the light intensity down. I'll probably just move him down near the bottom of the tank. I have a frogspawn frag that spent some time in the 20g long with 96 watts of t5 lighting; I put him near the bottom of the tank and he's looking fine.
I like the lights, they're powerful and provide a nice aesthetic shimmer, but I would love to find a way to actually measure the output. I need to get the second one soon so the tank looks balanced.

How many QT tanks do you think I'm allowed over here????

We went down to look. The Mystery wrasse was beautiful, and not too big yet...about 3 inches. The leopard wrasses were TINY, honestly too small IMO to have been collected. They were all buried in the sand, the only way to see them was when the shop helper rand his fingers through the sand bed. I only saw one, but he said there were three in there. No way I would've brought that home.....too small, too much chance of having a fish go belly up.

AHEM.......

.......Because OF COURSE I got the Mystery Wrasse!
It was one of Michelle's two "must haves" and it was on sale for $79.....and usually around here these don't go for under $100.
Now, I'll tell you a story. Last night when I saw the fish in the email blast, I knew Michelle was going to want it. I also know I had both QT tanks in use. There was only possible way I might be able to pick up the wrasse.
Combine the Anthias in one tank. Risky.
Especially since the more aggressive anthias (Bartletts) had already been in their 20g for a full week. I knew I would have to add the Dispar to the Bartlett tank, because no way were three anthias going to get along in a 12g QT for another three weeks. So late last night, I added a few new decorations to the 20g tank and moved things around so the Bartletts wouldn't be so used to the tank. I netted the Dispar, floated him for a bit, and introduced him to his new "friends." I had the lights dimmed low, but the Bartletts still knew that something was amiss in their little puddle of water. They kept hanging out together, fin to fin, under the filter.
As soon as the Dispar was released, he darted under the filter and joined the other two fish. There was a brief moment of camaraderie, as if all were banded together in their fright of the Giant Pale Hand, before....and my hand to G*d on this....it seemed like there was a dawning realization on the faces of both Bartletts that "one of these things is not like the others" and there was an imposter in their midst. It was almost comical to watch.
All three fish zoomed out from under the filter at the same time. There was a few tense moments of fin flashing, mouth gaping, and posturing on the part of all three fish, but after a few minutes they seemed to settle down and stake out their own turf in the tank. Of course, feeding them helped a bit too. Much like humans, our little finned friends are a lot more agreeable after a good meal.
Of course, I was sitting by the tank the whole time watching these guys with my net in hand. If anything had gotten out of hand, I was ready to scoop up the Dispar and call it quits on the whole experiment. A sweet sale is not worth the cost of a living fish. But as it happened, the net was not needed, my Anthias are getting along, and....well, the rest is obvious. I now have 4 fish in QT tanks. And my fish gift money is fully SPENT. LOL.

I actually had a super busy day today. We had a great time at the not-so-local fish store, but I managed to clean ALL the things as well.....living room, dining room, guest room, den, kitchen, guest bath......WHEW. Tomorrow: Not a single crap will be given. :) Maybe another visit to the fish store. Maybe the book store. Maybe I'll lay out by the pool and fry my skin to a bright crispy char. All I know for certain is......NOOO cleaning will be done.
And animals will be fed. I know that for certain also. The cats wouldn't let me forget even if I tried.

Awesome story, and the fish looks great...I hope you covered the tank, they are jumpers for sure.

I noticed this morning that one of the Bartletts isn't eating as much as the other two anthias, and he's less active. I'm going to watch this for the rest of today, but I may have to go get a small 5g tank and transfer him for some solitary time. If he's feeling outcompeted, the solitary will give him better access to the food....and if he's got an internal bacterial infection, I don't want to run a chance of the other ones getting it.

Yeah, I'm giving him one more day before he gets himself a time-out. I went out today to get some tubing (the silly little rio-90 takes a weird tube diameter!) so I could FINALLY hook up my ATO, and I picked up some frozen zooplankton blend as well that has a high cyclopeeze content. That's the first time in a day or two that I've seen him really get interested in food...and I saw him eat a little also.
Trouble is, if he has internal injuries there's not a whole lot I can do. Just wait and hope he heals.
I also did a 5g WC to that QT tank today (no jumpers this time), grabbed some extra seawater in case I need to set up the 10g tomorrow, and I picked up some 1/2 tubing for the TLF reactor.
Good thing to report...the Mystery Wrasse eats like a PIG. Doesn't matter what I put in there - pellets, mysis, brine.....he eats it all. And he's learning to beg already. I come in that room and suddenlyhe's up against the front tank, swimming up and down. Which is good for me; I need to get a better look at him.

No change. Still alive, still exhibiting a feeding response when cyclopeeze is introduced (and other foods) but....I don't see him actually eat, and he doesn't move around a whole lot. Just hangs out near the bottom of the tank.
I went ahead and transferred him into his own 10g tank this afternoon so I could observe him more closely. I don't think the other fish are stressing him out, but I'm hoping that the solitary confinement will mean he has a better chance of eating from the bottom. Which also means....I now have 5 tanks running.
