Thanks! It's definitely been a labor of love, and there's a long way to go yet.
OK, I'm thumbing my nose at everyone (including my back) and I'm buying the second set of lights this week. We're going to start getting people over more often in a couple months, and I want the light balanced and the cyano bloom that I KNOW is going to happen on that side to be over and done with by the time people are here. I've also been thinking about the next set of fish to go in the tank...once the anthias and the wrasse are in, I'll be putting a tiger goby and a leopard wrasse in QT. The third QT will either be broken down, or I'll see about adding a blue-eyed midas blenny OR a firefish to the QT list.
The RODI will come as soon as I can, but I will also have to decide where to put it and how to install it. Self-piercing saddle valves are against code, and I would prefer spending the extra $$ to do it RIGHT and not have headaches down the road when we go to sell. I have to decide if I want it under the guest bathroom sink, or under the kitchen sink with a possible water dispenser included. I'm leaning towards that direction, but there's so little room under there...and I KNOW we're going to be swapping out sinks when we get new countertops next year.

Looks great.....AND I don't think we are ever done in this hobby....there will ALWAYS be "one more thing"

I would put it under the kitchen sink. You could put one of those pressurized tanks underneath it and have the water dispenser beside your faucet in your kitchen. Easy to get water out of it for top offs... and to collect it for water changes. I'm glad that you are going to invest in another one of those LED units to balance out the light. I know how it is when guests come over... You want everything to look really good. Heck, I get more cleaning done in the ten minutes before a guest arrives then I do in a week sometimes. LOL
I'm having to come up with creative ways to do water changes on my new tank as well. I'm thinking that I am going to send a line over to a trashcan that I have on a base with casters... mix the salt in the laundry room and then wheel it out into the kitchen for water changes. I hate water changes - I want to do them as easily as possible. Hopefully on my dream system that I design when I build my house I will have a way to do a water change by just flipping some switches and turning some knobs. woohoo.
There is always another thing to do or buy in this hobby - but that's kind of the meditation and relaxation of it....

yeah, I'm wrapping up some projects before the holiday season really gets into swing. I'd like to get the wainscotting done this week, and the rest of the house baseboards in place by end of month. Some things aren't going to happen -- the fans aren't going to be replaced in time, and the dream of a 60 inch flatscreen is GONE until next year -- but with luck I can get the dining room lights done and the porch plant stands built before people come in. I also need to sell this darned lathe that's sitting outside my front porch. Anyone need a slightly used (and in need of a de-rusting) 8x12 machine lathe?? Come and get it...it's HEAVY!!
Ooh! There's a use for the pocket jig! The plant stands are simply pressure treated 2x4s.........

The tank looks good. I think that the second LED light is going to really make it POP. Although I would not trade my RO/DI unit for the world. I just have mine mounted in a guest bath sink (in my basement with everything else fish related) using a T adapter to the cold water line. I did have to drill a small hole for the waste water line to go into the drain. Easy as pie. But it took up all the room under the sink.
Did someone say "lathe'???

I just re-introduced the bartlett's with one another. We're having some tense moments right now, so I just drew the shades, turned off the lights, and turned the extra pumps down low. Bedtime for bonzos.

Well, they might be getting along better now. Here's a shot I took of them tonight with flash.

Ugh, I hate how bad flash photography looks with our tanks. But you can see the three amigos holding court here. Let's see if they behave.

As of this morning, all the anthias are up and at 'em, no overt aggression that I could see, and everyone was active and eating. I'm hoping the aeronaut is out of the woods and will pull thtough....signs look good for him.
The wrasse's tank is officially at 0.010 levels. Let's see if that mystery spot falls off, or if it was actually just a small lympho spot. Could be.....but I didn't want to run the risk, and hypo doesn't hurt. I wish I could get a pic of it, but the wrasse is just too fast.

Well drat. No RODI in the future. No light either. Just had to make a $2000 unexpected payment today (long story) so.......it's ramen soup and grilled cheese for a little while here in the NovaHobbies household.

Yikes, I have ammonia in my wrasse tank! 1.0ppm!
There was nothing I could do about it this morning other than dose some prime and add some bacteria. Hoping I can get off a little early today and do a 50% water change, but I have to adjust the salinity of the water change water first. Sheesh. Fingers crossed that the fish is OK for the day.
I MIGHT be getting that light in a couple weeks. I had someone contact me about the lathe this morning. It's a lower price than I want (of course) but if I can talk him up just a little, I think we can find a middle ground. With luck, I'll be able to get it out of my front porch by this weekend...that would make my wife VERY happy, and put some cash in our hand to start making up for that 2K hit.
More good news, the three anthias are doing just fine. So all I have to really concern myself with is that wrasse tank.

Fingers and toes crossed. Those smaller tanks are so much harder just because there is no wiggle room for error, I don't know how you set up your QT but I never had sand or rock, which makes for not much for the good bacteria to build on.
I'm glad to hear all the anthias are doing good. When I was messing with the rock yesterday and removing some pieces to set up the new stuff...I had missed one of my peppermints that must have been hiding in a rock and I just happen to go to the kitchen for something and found it on the floor, I thought it was dead but it started jumping around when I went to pick it up...I dumped it back into the tank. It swam away to the rocks, I hope it makes it too.

Thanks. I had to take Michelle to the dentist today, so I got home a little early. I just did a 50% water change, and I have enough salinity-adjusted water to do another 50% in a day or two.
This is my fault (obviously...), I was adding fresh water and removing salt water slowly to reach 1.010, but I wasn't taking into account that the fish was pooping more than my little-at-a-time water swaps were covering. So Ammonia was building. Last "real" WC I did to this tank was a full week ago, and since it's not a cycled filter....that just wasn't good enough. On the other hand, the fish seems to be none the worse for wear, he's swimming and eating, so hopefully he's OK despite his owner's ignorance.
