Yes, Size matters, and anyone who says otherwise is kidding themselves. BUT....... you can't skimp on quality and overall stamina, either. These things are just as important.
For instance, you might see a guy with an 8 foot tank, but if the glass is all scratched up with weak seals, you might consider passing up the visit and going to see the guy with the 6 foot tank with starfire glass and clean, well-seamed joints. The tank may be a little smaller, but it's prettier to look at, and of course you know it's not going to blow a seam and squirt water all over the place before the visit is done. Tank hygiene is important as well...what would you prefer to look at: a well-groomed tank, or a dirty mess with unwashed bio-balls and hair algae growing every which-way??
The goal is really simple. Keep the tank clean, make sure it's going to last a long time, and try to make sure that your tank is bigger than your neighbor's.....without peeking into his house, of course. In a perfect world, we'd all have sparkling clean 300-gallon tanks, but then there'd be no variety in life, would there?
Personally I'm perfectly happy with my 110. It's MUCH bigger than it looks in pictures. Trust me.
BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
I don't even know what to say to this!
What happens when you observe someone that you know has equipment clearly meant for 200 gallon tank, so decide you want to see the tank in person. However, when you get there, it's really just a 50 gallon with a really big skimmer and light?
No one likes unwashed bioballs full of hair algae.
