Holy crap! What kind of a crab is that? Was it a HH? Or did you put him in there and then want him out?
It's mean looking.

Rae, that was a hitchhiker. Which is funny, since there are so few pieces of live rock in this tank.....NATURALLY I would have to get one with the big ugly crab in it, right?? Look at those claws, they're serrated for cryin' out loud. Scary. But he's been banished to the sump to live out his life. I'll put a couple mysis shrimp down there from time to time, just to make sure he doesn't starve. BUT....I think he was the source of the mysterious glove polyp recession. They seemed to be disappearing a week ago before I discovered the crab, and now that he's gone...sure enough, looks like they're growing back over the bare parts of that particular rock.

Ya know, Every night I come home, plant my butt in the chair across from the tank, grab a drink and sit back to watch the fish swim in the current. It's not the worlds prettiest tank, nor is it fully stocked yet. But it's my tank and I love it. I'm so very grateful to be in this hobby. Despite the work involved.....it's still completely relaxing to me and I wouldn't trade it for a thing.
BTW, yes I'm a little liquorly medicated right now and may be in the "I love you man" stage.

hahaha no. Where did you get that idea from, Snake? I have just been running the Solana 60...
I bought a 150 like 3 weeks ago and have been flip flopping on whether I really wanted to set up it or not.
I now have an uncycled 150. :)
Keifers, I hear it's not about the size... It's how you use it.*

Yes, Size matters, and anyone who says otherwise is kidding themselves. BUT....... you can't skimp on quality and overall stamina, either. These things are just as important.
For instance, you might see a guy with an 8 foot tank, but if the glass is all scratched up with weak seals, you might consider passing up the visit and going to see the guy with the 6 foot tank with starfire glass and clean, well-seamed joints. The tank may be a little smaller, but it's prettier to look at, and of course you know it's not going to blow a seam and squirt water all over the place before the visit is done. Tank hygiene is important as well...what would you prefer to look at: a well-groomed tank, or a dirty mess with unwashed bio-balls and hair algae growing every which-way??
The goal is really simple. Keep the tank clean, make sure it's going to last a long time, and try to make sure that your tank is bigger than your neighbor's.....without peeking into his house, of course. In a perfect world, we'd all have sparkling clean 300-gallon tanks, but then there'd be no variety in life, would there?
Personally I'm perfectly happy with my 110. It's MUCH bigger than it looks in pictures. Trust me.

I'll take some pics tonight. I'm actually getting a set of white balance cards in the mail today, so I was planning a little photo session to experiment with color correction techniques.

BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
I don't even know what to say to this!
What happens when you observe someone that you know has equipment clearly meant for 200 gallon tank, so decide you want to see the tank in person. However, when you get there, it's really just a 50 gallon with a really big skimmer and light?
No one likes unwashed bioballs full of hair algae.

I know what you mean, and it's a shame. Over compensation is an ever-present problem for some aquarists. False advertising, really.
