Yeah, I've been having those kind of days off and on too for the last few weeks. I hope I get out of this rut too!
Speaking of the tank, how's those lights? washing out any colors yet? Corals doing ok?

Yup, work is definitely overrated. And if you're in SoFla for those dates, we definitely ought to grab Richard (the OTHER Richard...
) his wife, and go out for lunch or dinner. Sip, what do you think?
Speaking of work. I just have to say it. Had a hard day at work, got home, decided to say "screw it" to preparing dinner. Went out for a crab dinner, came home, broke open a bottle of prosecco, and proceeded to kill the bottle while sitting in front of the aquarium, with quiet music in the background. The bottle is now empty, the aquarium lights are about to go out, and I have NO idea what made my day so lousy. Feels pretty good now!

We have those days as well my friend. There are many timeswe sit in front of the tanks with some Disaronno and just chillax. It can be rather depressing when winter hits up here, work sounds blah because there are times one just does not go outside. There are those "few" times when the house is empty of teenagers for the night and all you can hear are the tanks ad the wind outside. Get a fireplace going, some drinks and some wife time. (Sooo, how yooou dooin'?)

I just got a note from Living Reef Aquariums. There is ONE African Leopard from last weekend that's still available. Going to see it tonight to make a decision.
Kiefers, +10 points for the excellent Friends reference.

Agreed!! Drop me a text when you wake up. I'm PRAYING that this will be a quiet Friday.
Wrasse was purchased, and immediately buried in the sand. We'll see how long it takes for her to poke her head out. Turns out she was at the store for 2 weeks, but buried most of the time so they didn't realize she was still there until she popped out during daylight hours yesterday! No abrasions or blemishes on her flanks, no issues with her mouth that I could see (they tend to bruise their mouth if there's no sand and they try to "dig" against the hard bottom). Pics as soon as I can get them.....

Hey Seth! Hope today isn't another "one of those days" for you....I'm trying to avoid it myself. I told the world that I WAS going to have a good day today. So far....eh, not so bad.
Yes, the corals are doing OK, with a couple small exceptions. I'll do another report later tonight after I move a couple things around.
I still like my CCLEDF......for the time being, anyway. However, I'm toying with the idea of substituting new meanwell dimmable drivers and including a possible controller for the system. I know I should be saving my dough for an RODI instead of relying on the LFS's RO, but you know how it is...the New Shiny Whizbang
product is always more attractive than something that is just gonna sit under my sink and make water. I'm not even sure I need to sub the drivers...these are "dimmable" but I don't know if the pots are dialing down the current going into or out of the drivers.
In a few months I'll make a decision on that, and I'll have one more of these fixtures (for the horse tank) to play with. It would be nice to finally take the plunge and wire this bad boy up with a controller.....

I'm still concidering on these lights as well. I don't know if my lovely lady has hers to high or what but the only thing actually growing is the cyno at the moment. I do like the Shimmer effect very much but my ATI T-5's are still my choice.
Her skimmer impeller busted and I have been trying to locate the dealer to order a new one. So, in the mean time she has discontinued the vodka dosing until we get this taken care of. If it's not one thing it's another.

I will have to get your number and will text ya when we get down there. Look foward in hopefully meeting you and Sir Richard. I will have to see what the in-laws are up to and what they may have planned.
I wanna see this new addition to your tank soon. Git -r-up

Well, I'm not vodka dosing, but I've done a good job wine dosing tonight. Time to site back with some good music and enjoy the tank. I don't know if I should be testing parameters under the influence....

Well I just tests the waters. Ph is 7.8, dKH is 10 , nitrate is 0 , Ca is 480 , phosphate is 0 or unreadable, and Mag is either 2000.....or the test kit is flawed. Lol. It read the same twice though, so I'll probably buy another to compare.

Good calc and dlk ! good p04 as well. I would raise it little bit though lol. just a bit. I think corals need little dirt in there. ;)

Yeah, that number is crazy high. This is a red sea test kit, but it's a little old....I think it was purchased in 2010. Really the only way to be sure is another test kit. So...should I go with another red sea product, or try the salifert.....decisions, decisions...

Well, for better or worse, I just tested the natural seawater I get from the LFS, and I got the exact same Mag reading. So the test is probably flawed.
I just had to do an emergency mini water change. I must have knocked my autofeeder a little and opened the hopper by one more click. The dry food I use is small so a crapload came out. As it happened, I was in front of the tank, so I saw where it landed and managed to siphon 90% of it out with just a 5g water change.

So you are going to go through nsw method?
I had that happen to me couple of months ago if you remember. It sucked...

Richard, I've always used NSW...since I don't yet have an RODI unit (it's on my "I-really-should-buy-this-but-it-cuts-into-coral-frag-money" list of things to get), I use the NSW that Barrier Reef gets in. The last time I used Instant Ocean was back when I filled my 55g tank, if I remember correctly.
Now, I really DO think I should have 10g worth of Instant Ocean on hand. For incidents, errors, and miscellaneous unforseen oopsies.
Actually I do remember your feeder incident. In fact, while I was vacuuming the sand, I was silently cussing that somehow, some way....this was your fault.

Heya Rick,
I was thought that you mixed your water for some reason and yes, I really dig NSW but these days I'm also really liking red sea coral plus salt as well.
If you need some water in emergency, let me know. Us reefers gotta stick together right? I will have it ready for you in jiffy and I will trade for some chilling time at your house with your wife's world famous tea lol.
Also I'm quite used to being blamed upon lol. My wife does it all the time hahahhaha.
