Sweater, what type of leds are you using?
Reefbreeder Photon's 32" standard layout with the 90 degree optics. 2 units over my 125g.
Older pic of when I first got them in January. I have a goal of getting some new pics of the lights and corals in the next couple of weeks.
IDK, if its more the lights or keeping my parameters (calc, Kh, Mg, phos) stable. I have been dosing BRS 2-part solutions manually. I bought some dosing pumps but I want to set up a control panel for all my power and the pumps in the fish room first. I over booked myself on too many projects lately. I am hoping to get the pumps running by mid summer. Some SPS do great and some do well for a long while, then they go downhill quickly.

I think a lot of people blame the lights rather then their water quality. There tends to be just as many people who have success with these lights as people who don't have a lot of success with these lights. Not saying that it's your husbandry skills,...
The PAR readings alone on these little units have proven that they can keep SPS corals alive and thriving as much as any metal halide out there. The problem with my tank right now is that I have four old T5 bulbs over the top of my 75g tank and I expect to grow SPS... lol, and I know that ain't going to happen.

I agree with that. I would think that water quality would always be the first thing to look at.
My quality is good, but its the stability that I need... Or at least I want to achieve stability first then see how the corals react. I can't go blaming lights when I know that things are not 100% stable.
I don't have any access to a PAR meter, but I know these units put out some great numbers. And I do see some really good growth on a lot of my SPS ( I have a purple monti that is borderline out of control). Even the ones that fade away have some great growth until they start to slide. So, I just need to get things stable (again, not that they are not good numbers, I just want the numbers to be the same everyday).
Snake, what SPS have you had success with in the 75g??

The only ones that will grow in my tank is montipora, and the reason, i believe, is because its the only sps coral out there that grows OK in lower level light conditions. Im changing my system up quite a bit lately and monitoring everything. Ill be adding a 40g water change tank to the system for bimonthly water changes soon. I might drill it to make it part of the system - add stability and all that.
Anyways, sorry nova for hijacking your thread.

Pm me with your tank information. I have became somewhat of LED expert lol.
Exact water chemistry, lighting, how far are they from top and how deep is the tank etc etc. What are you having troubles with.

Lol no worries on the hijack. These past few days have been crazy busy and to top it all off...NO INTERNET AT HOME RIGHT NOW!! I have to access the web via phone. Sigh. #FirstWorldProblems. I won't have internet or cable until Monday.
Sad bit to report. I lost ac in my house earlier this week and had a temp spike. Not a lot...but I lost most of my purple milli. :-( Seriously bummed about that.

That sucks.
My ac has been down for a week or two now. Im using window units but its only keeping the house at 79-82*F. My tank is getting up yo 86*F during the day - so i can definitely understand where your coming from.
Try adding a couple fans to your system. Im going to buy a couple today.

Yes please, I'm definitely NOT done with the Fun Dip.
Got in my BRS package today! Jeez, almost forgot I ordered so much stuff. Since the RODI unit I recently bought was used, I decided to give it the full overhaul and make sure it could handle my chloramine-laden tap. So today's order consisted of new DI resin, Chloramine-kit carbon, standard carbon block, new sediment filters, an in-line dual TDS meter, a pressure gauge, and a JG water mains connector to properly attach the RODI to the water supply. FYI, don't know if anyone knew this...but those piercing saddle valves that are usually used are NOT to code in any housing area, and the darn things leak all the time. Don't use them.
SInce we were ordering, I also got some clear netting so I can make proper anti-jump screens on the big tank and some new GFO. My wallet is lighter, but I'm a happy camper!

I have chosen this weekend to be the "get-off-my-arse-and-install-the-RODI" weekend. I no longer wish to drive around town and schlep jugs up the stairs for my water. It's also going to be "glue-the-darn-corals" weekend for a few items that have stubbornly refused to be placed properly. I'd like to remove the frag rack at some point so I can get some better side shots of the tank. The last shot I took was decent, but the rack was getting in the way.

Starting to SERIOUSLY contemplate a WP-40 powerhead for this tank. I noticed that some of my S. histrix are growing in irregular shapes. Usually indicative of low flow.

It's yours if you want it. Let me place corals and save it for the corals I'm giving to Ursula next weekend, then it's yours. On a related note, I think I NEED to drill some frag plug holes in the magnarox. What's a frag rack without places to put plugs??

Sure I'm sure. I'm starting to wind down on coral collecting (well, a LITTLE bit) and I'm not a huge fan of seeing the plastic frag rack in the tank.
Speaking of which, I'm halfway done with my weekend bucket list. Got a lot of corals permanently placed, including the Leng Sy that has stubbornly refused to stay put where I wanted it. Hopefully it will grow and adhere to the rock by itself soon. Now that Wife is taking her mom's dog home, I get to clean out the bathroom where the pishpot was staying and start thinking about installing the RODI!!
