The US Federal Reserve is not specifically under control of the Preident nor any particular political party.
I understand that - How can Dr. Bernanke who was Chairman of the President's Council of Economic Advisers, from June 2005 to January 2006 now be the Chairman of Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System? Bad news
Their charter -
Charter Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System. The Federal Reserve, the central bank of the United States, provides the nation with a safe, flexible, and stable monetary and financial system.
Today, the Federal Reserve's responsibilities fall into four general areas:
Let's grade them---
Failed - conducting the nation's monetary policy by influencing money and credit conditions in the economy in pursuit of full employment and stable prices
Failed - supervising and regulating banking institutions to ensure the safety and soundness of the nation's banking and financial system and to protect the credit rights of consumers
Failed - maintaining the stability of the financial system and containing systemic risk that may arise in financial markets
Failed - providing certain financial services to the U.S. government, to the public, to financial institutions, and to foreign official institutions, including playing a major role in operating the nation's payments systems.
We can't blame him it's been a long time leading up to this from the surplus days. The keys in congress were turned over in 2006 (they could do better) and the president's will be turned over in 2008, It will take more than the next 4 years to fix it. They have failed for Americans as a whole, but not all American, some make a killing during and as a result of the failures...
I am afraid that all the money spent (debt) to defeat the soviet communist in the 80's wasn't as well spent, since they are moving back in now. I am afraid the terrorist will win by bankrupting us not by beating us militarily.

Got Hope?
Most of us on this thread have already discussed the shortcomings of McCain. You are free to search the threads to find the information if you so choose.
If the issue has no merit, why did Nobama appear on TV and discuss it? If the issue has no merit, why did Nobama dump Wright from his campaign last week? If the issue has no merit, why did Nobama disinvite his hater minister when he announced his candidacy for president stating, "you can get rough in those sermons"?
THe people we look up to, confide in and seek advice...impacts who we are.

Billary and Nobama will surrender to the enemy...so we will lose according to them. They will defeat us...we will surrender according to Nobama/Billary

Preaching to the choir man. I'm with ya in regards to the economy.
I said probably a month ago that we needed to be watching the Soviet Union as they are trying to reform. That doesn't mean we were wrong in the 80's though. The Hundred million plus people now living in Democratic Eastern Europe certainly deserved a chance at freedom.
My point is, if you listen to Democrats, they want to spend more to bail out more... That, to me, is moving further in the wrong direction.
Remember, it was the Republicans in 1996 that started trying to pass balanced budgets. It's McCain that is leading the charge (though it ressembles the Charge of the Light Brigade at this point) to put a freeze on Earmarks.
Remember it is the Democrats that are proposing dramtically increasing spending.
I'm all for cutting spending and balancing the budget. History has shown, however, that raising taxes lowers Federal revenue.

The fact that this guy is the "Left's" leading candidate for President seems to me to indicate the Dems have far bigger problems.
Most of the country blew it off huh? Is that why Obama did an iterview Thursday specifically addressing it? Is that why Obama kicked the "rev" from his advisory Committee?
I'll ask again... If Senator McCain was a member of Westboro Church and called the pastor of Westboro a friend, mentor, and advisor, would it not be a big deal? Of course it would.
Here's a partial transcript of the 2007 Christmas Sermon at Obama's church:
" Jesus was a poor black man who lived in a country and who lived in a culture, that was controlled by rich white people! The Romans were rich. The Romans were Italians -- which means they were European, which means they were white -- and the Romans ran everything in Jesus' country. It just came to me with -- with -- within the past few weeks, y'all, why so many folk are hatin' on Barack Obama. He doesn't fit the model! He ain't white, he ain't rich, and he ain't privileged. (cheers) Hillary fits the mold. Europeans fit the mold! Giuliani fits the mold. Rich white men fit the mold. Hillary never had a cab whiz past her and not pick her up, because her skin was the wrong color. (applause) Hillary never had to worry about being pulled over in her car as a black man driving in the wrong lane! I am sick of Negroes who just do not get it! Hillary was not a black boy raised in a single parent home; Barack was. Barack knows what it means to be a black man living in a country and a culture that is controlled by rich white people! Hillary can never know that! Hillary ain't never been called a ******. Hillary has never had her people defined as nonpersons. Hillary ain't had to work twice as hard just to get accepted by the rich white folk who run everything, or to get a passing grade when you know you are smarter than their C-students sitting in the White House. Ooooh, I am so glad that I got a God who knows what it is to be a poor black man in a country and a culture that is controlled by and run by rich white people! He taught me, Jesus did, how to love my enemies...."
And:
"Hillary is married to Bill, and Bill have been good to us? No, he ain't! Bill did us just like he did Monica Lewinsky. He was riding dirty."
What a lovely Christmas sermon, filled with Hope and Cheer.
Let's not forget, this is the guy to whom Obama got his whole "Audacity of Hope" them from.
SHameful.....

Ditto, a shift from company retirements (except the Corp Officers), to being forced to gamble the market by the republicans. Also, all employers make the matching contribution now in the business and you can't move that money. Some have changed since ENRON , they require it to be there for a period of time, then it can be moved. Remember, part of reducing cost is shifting the number one cost for business - labor (that would be workers) - some where else. Are the Republicans still pushing market investment for Social Security. Gamble on your security? Why not, the fed and gov will bail you out when free market fails - That's big government for you, even the republicans free marketers like it, when it impacts their investments / personal money too.

Did I mention he supports racism through his continued memebrship in his church? he looks to the racist for advice and guidance?
I'd rather not have someone in the WHite House that admits he confides in a racist hater for guidance.

I was wondering if it was something he has done during his 8 years as a state senator or while in the US senate, that was a result of the minister's sermons that persuaded you this way. So it's not what he has done thus for during the last 12 years despite the preacher.

I'll try yet again although this has been previously stated by me on this thread. IN the book written by Nobama Dreams of My Father you see the message of Wright...Audacity of Hope comes from the title of the racist hater sermon.
Obviously, Wright has had a singnificant impact on the Nobama's . Recent comments made by the Nobama's also solidify their allignment with the teaching of thier "pastor".

Newsmax places Obama in the audience......7/22/07
Presidential candidate Barack Obama preaches on the campaign trail that America needs a new consensus based on faith and bipartisanship, yet he continues to attend a controversial Chicago church whose pastor routinely refers to "white arrogance" and "the United States of White America."
In fact, Obama was in attendance at the church when these statements were made on July 22.
Obama has spoken and written of his special relationship with that pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr.

his books and statements along with the statements of his wife are examples. The lofty status Nobama has atrributed to Wright are futher examples. As a US Senator....he has the most liberal record in DC....far left is where his church stands along with the rest of the hate Amreica mantra. Again, all that information has been posted earlier. Feel free to do the reserach on his voting record as a US Senator...he's about as far left as you can get...along with his church and it's racist hater leader.

I submit this report from the NY Post..as evidence Nobama is far left...right where the hate Amrecia group stands along with his "pastor".
In the Senate, Obama's liberal voting record belies the centrist themes he strikes on the stump.
The liberal lobbying group Americans for Democratic Action gives Obama a 100 percent voting rating - 5 points to the left of Sen. Ted Kennedy, who gets a 95 percent grade.

His entire voting record as a US senator supports my claims that his minister and his far left message has placed him right where he stands...FAR LEFT Unless you beleive the NY Post is quoting bad information and doinf a numebr on Nobama

You asked earlier...
Throughout his political career, Barack Obama has fought for open and honest government. As an Illinois State Senator, he helped pass the state’s first major ethics reform bill in 25 years. And as a U.S. Senator, he has spearheaded the effort to clean up Washington in the wake of numerous scandals

WASHINGTON – President Bush today signed the Lugar-Obama proliferation and threat reduction initiative into law.

Just a couple...
You can rip on his voting record that's your choice and opinion, but you can only easily find McCain's from Obama's site. Since McCain won't list a direct link to his... Backdoor easy anyway.

Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., was the most liberal senator in 2007, according to National Journal's 27th annual vote ratings
This report on Nobamas record also places him far left...right where his minister stands....
