The dish idea for meal time is working out great. Of course Navajo and Apache find the food right away and get their fill. Tonight Inca kept a close eye on what was going on there, but I still had to spot feed him...the same with Maya. That's okay though, they'll get it before too long, and I feel like all 4 of my horses ate great tonight. I can't wait for Maya and Inca to "beef" up a little bit!! As it is, they're both so busy it's very common to go in to find them and they're always in a different spot in the tank...even when the last time you've looked was like 2 minutes ago...

Here are some pictures of my babies tonight after dinner...mind you, AFTER dinner. Kinda hard to tell with Apache coveting "his" new dish the way he is...

First, Apache with "his" new dish, a picture of Navajo (excuse the hair algae, I'm working on that...again), then a not so easy to see picture of Inca, and then 2 pictures of Maya...she's always got herself into a spot in the tank where it's hard to get a decent shot of her. They're doing great so far...all of them.

I told you that I never know what I'm going to find with those little ones in there. BUT...I finally got a picture of the 2 of them hanging out together...drat the luck, Navajo and Apache were on the exact same plant, but higher and I couldn't get them included in the picture...you just gotta take my word for it...I LOVE my horses!!
The little one closest to the camera is Maya, the one with his back more to the camera is Inca.

I do turn the equipment off to feed them, then I tap on the glass near their dish to direct them. The equipment is off for about 15-20 minutes, or however long it takes for them to empty the dish. Another extra added bonus with this is that I can carefully take the dish out after mealtime to empty the "old" mysis, then put it back for the next meal (I only do this after suppertime though). Works great.

Ummm, yeah, reproduce...no. Let's just say that Apache and Navajo have adopted their little charges. They're doing great so far.
Thanks TriGa22.

By the by, are you going to home in the next couple of days? I was wondering when I should wrap Flash up for you.

I'm trying to decide where the best place would be for you to send Flash so that he doesn't sit outside at all after being delivered. I'm going to find out if it would work best for Beth to have you ship him to her school addy, since that's where he'll be housed. I'll PM you that addy when I find out for sure that that's what we should do.

Hey Ryk, PM sent.
Everyone ate fine this evening...well, Maya needed just a little coaxing from me. I did see her snick a couple of small pieces of mysis in the sand, but after Apache and Navajo were finished eating, I kinda coaxed Maya over to the feeding dish with a clear plastic spoon. She was very receptive and hung out there for quite a while. I went in to check on her a number of times, and she was indeed finding goodies to partake in. Navajo seems to keep an especially good eye on Maya and frequented the dish while she was in there. I didn't get pictures of that...you'll have to take my word for it...but I did get pictures of Maya having dinner tonight.
Inca, on the other hand seems to be doing great. He eats when he wants to and is swimming around with the big horses. I think that Maya is just TOO little for all of that yet. Maybe in a week or so, she'll be able to stretch her wings a bit...I hope so, I'm anxious to see her exploring more.

Luke will have my head, but I've been dreaming up designs for a seahorse and pony tank. Once I bring the 90 gallon w/stand to Luke's, he's gonna trade me back the 45 gallon, which I plan to populate with horses.
