Very heartwarming. As it turns out the last couple of days, when I'm looking for Maya, I can simply look to where Navajo is situated...more than likely Maya is in her sight range. Same with Apache when I'm looking for Inca.
They all ate together again tonight, but I didn't take pictures cuz, well, I got those last night. My horses ROCK!!

I took the small piece of rubble LR out of my feeding dish because I found that bristleworms were finding it too comfortable (I flushed at least 4 worms out last night as I was emptying the dish, and I know there was at LEAST 1 large one left...ugh).
My first thought to replace the LR was to look around for an "aggie" marble...get this...ShopKo says that marbles are "not in season"????? Hmmmm, ok.
Beth happened to have some nice smooth rocks for me to use, nothing fancy, but I think they're really nice looking. I put one of those in the feeding dish. I'm sure the bristleworms will still make their way into the dish, but at least this way when I go to empy it in the evening, I can get rid of 1 or 2 of the little boogers. Just trying to look out for my horses.
Oh, and I replaced my algae pockets today. This time I went without the chaeto...just doesn't do well in my tank. My pockets now have just feather and grape caulerpa...I really hope this stuff does better in my tank.

While eating supper tonight, Inca decided that he would hitch a ride on his adopted dad, Apache. I just thought it was really cute...mind you, my little horses have only been in the tank for a little over a week, and they're already so much part of the family. Navajo has taken it upon herself to round up the little ones at meal times and direct them to the feeding dish...this is something that I never expected, but she does...every single time.
The other picture that I'm posting here is that of a new aquarium deco that I put into the sh tank. Believe it or not, I've actually been searching the internet, different sites, to find something like this. I was at my LFS today to pick up filter media for the sh tank filters and I thought I would poke my nose around a little...how perfect is this for a sh tank???? I'm not that big into props in a sw tank, but I have to admit that if they're tasteful, I'm all over it ....
here are my pictures...

This evening when my horses were eating, I wandered into their room to find Maya with her tail wrapped around Inca's neck while eating...as I looked further, Navajo was doing the same with Apache...hmmmm, wonder where Maya got THAT idea!!

So far Apache is the only one who's really taken advantage of the new tank deco. It's kinda cool though, he hitches to the ship's wheel and sort of keeps an eye on "his" tank. My hope is that before too long I will be able to get a family picture there **fingers crossed**
Forgot to add, I did a 4 gallon change in their tank tonight and cleaned sponges, etc. Other than that, no, nothing really new.

Yet another edit. I noticed tonight that Maya is getting her recognizable little kuda cornet. Both she and Inca are getting noticeably bigger...they're still pretty little yet though. I'm glad they're doing as well as they are!!!

Monkey see, Monkey do!!!!
It's so good to hear how your horse family is growing. Can't wait to see the "cap't" perched on his ship!!! I had a snowflake eel that did that!!

Definately

I just moved my little family into a 10 gallon, Luke was right. As the days past with the ponies in the 29 gallon, it became very obvious they weren't getting enough to eat. The tank was just to big.Luke was very relieved to hear that.
The water is finally clear enough that I confirmed all 5 were in the tank.

Wow, is that kinda stressful (to both you and the horses) to move them? I would be a basket case!! I'm glad to hear that you've got them situated in a more suitable environment. Keep me posted on how they're doing...by the by, do you have them named?
I was talking with our medical director today, who is also a friend of mine, and he was saying that he's storing a couple of tanks for his son...one of those tanks happens to be an octagon shaped tank that from the way he describes it is quite large. I'm going to take a look to see if it's something that I might be able to upgrade my horses to...we'll see.

Yeah...funny thing is~they're fine. I was the one freaking out. I was about to start draining water, when I decided that I'd move the tank. There was a sickening *crack*
The puddle of spilled water on the table began to grow...
Panic set in, the ponies were still in the 29, the 10 gallon wasn't set up at all
I ran for towels and buckets and started syphoning water for the 29 to the 10 when the water was high enough I put the filter into the 10 and got it started. Then it occured to me that in the rush of panic i had neglected to keep track of where the ponies were...meaning they could have gotten syphoned into the 10, or one of the buckets, and worse case stuck in the leak or on the carpet

Ok Ryk...get a hold of yourself...okay...found one..there's Titan...I found another one in the big bucket, after the sand settled I finally counted all five in the 10 gallon

as for names, not yet...still to tiny to get a feeling for they're personalities. But I have some ideas

YIKES!! Sounds like a fun day???
LOL
Flash didn't arrive today, but Beth has an APB out in the shop to let her know the minute he arrives on campus. We'll post pictures of him in his new home when he's settled.
Nothing much new in either of my tanks tonight, save that my new skimmer in my reef is working beautifully and is taking out a ton of crud.
I can't express enough how wonderful that feeding dish is working out in my seahorse tank!! As it works out usually, Apache finds the food first and gets his fill. Soon after, Navajo joins him and begins her eating, but then she goes out to collect the kids. The little ones usually eat last under the watchful eye of Navajo. This again was the case this evening, and everyone was able to get their fill.
Soon after the little ones are finished eating, I took the dish out to empty the excess.
Works for me...

I keep forgetting to post this, but I want it here in my thread.
When Beth and I were at the LFS in Madison on Saturday, they had a tank full of little Appaches and Navajos...the same size that mine were when I got them...geez mine have grown!! I kept thinking that if I had been in that same situation 2 weeks earlier, I would definitely have purchased another pair from them...and had 2 more black kudas (which would have been great!!). When I think though how things worked out, I now have Apache and Navajo, 2 beautiful black kudas, and now I have Maya who is bright yellow, and Inca who is red. From some of the reading I've been doing, my little red Inca is not exactly rare, but his color is not common.
I got lucky!!

Well, I did indeed need to put in a larger feeding dish for my little family...it got pretty crowded in that little Gerber dish when all four were feeding, which is pretty much every meal. I also placed an extra stone into the new dish just to be in the safe side. I hope this one works out for them...I'm sure it will.

Time to post another picture...
I haven't been paying much attention to Apache, well in the way of being "knocked up", so to speak. This evening I got a good look at him, and well, what do YOU think???
One concern I have is that his pouch simply has air in it which will need to be manually evacuated. At what point do I decide to do that? Ugh...I sure hope he has babies, this is such a roller coaster.
Apologies for the picture, it was taken after the big lights were off.

I'm bored, but I'm always checking out my sh tank. This picture was taken long after feeding time, and Inca, Maya, and Apache were all still hanging out in their new expanded dish. I saw Maya kinda hover over to Inca, and hitch as if that's just what was meant to be...I thought it was cute.
Inca and Maya...the big horse in the forefront is Apache...he hangs out by "his" dish long after dinner is done as well.

Both of my little horses, as well as my big horses are forming a very affectionate little family together. Yesterday, being Sunday, all 4 horses were waiting by their dish for breakfast (I got up later than on a work day...well, who doesn't, right?).
A funny thing has happened with my little Christmas tree worm. The crown has completely blown from the tube, and it seems that it's found a place to reconstruct a new tube. Not in a super easy to see place, but, well, who cares, as long as it's happy and stays healthy, and so far so good with that.
