A funny thing has happened with my little Christmas tree worm. The crown has completely blown from the tube, and it seems that it's found a place to reconstruct a new tube. Not in a super easy to see place, but, well, who cares, as long as it's happy and stays healthy, and so far so good with that.

Neato!!!!Round of applause for Lisa!!!
That is one happy Christmas tree, from what I've read that's how they reproduce

Cool beans!! I didn't know that!!
In my continuous quest to come up with a way to keep up on the water quality in my tanks, I think I've finally hit on a method that works great for me!! **please, don't everyone say "doh" at once** I decided this week that I would just set up all 8 gallons at once, change out the sh tank then the reef...DUH!! Anyway, worked very nicely and that's where I'm at from now on for my weekly changes. This way also gives me a little leeway in one tank or another depending on what needs to be done.
I think that's all for now. My horses are doing great and the little ones are definitely growing. They've all taken greatly to eating from the dish I've placed and seek it out the minute the equipment is turned off for feeding time.
My black female, Navajo, has been surprising me in that when I approach the tank, she's out and about in the front. I run my finger across the front of the glass, and she follows me very closely. I want to get her to hitch on my finger in time.
Pictures when I get fresh batteries.

AWESOME!!!!
That's a great idea! Saves time and mopping up puddles

It really touches your heart when you realize they know you.(Course all kid's and fish know a sucker when they see one!) But they do come to know you and your schedule. Valiant would start to make a fuss if I didn't have dinner on time. There is just something different about horses, I think part of it is their eyes. Their ability to look around, so you can tell when they're looking at you.

They really do rock. I'm so happy with how Inca and Maya are growing. I was questioning whether or not Maya was growing as much, but with Beth here this weekend, she certainly confirmed what I've been thinking...Yay!!
Unfortunately with things going on with Leo, I will probably be putting any upgrading for that tank on hold indefinitely until I figure out what's going to happen
...and when.

Wow Your horse family looks awesome in that pic at the food dish.
How do you get the food to stay in the food dish? I've tried using food dishes before, but the food always floats away.
How do you place the dish/food in the tank?

Thanks Rykna,
First, I have the dish weighted down with SMOOTH rock so that there are no hiding spots in the rock for @#%@#@ bristle worms (marbles would also work nicely for this). Before feeding, I turn off the equipment, powerheads and filters. I always have their food made up and ready to go in a little dish that I keep in the refrigerator. I serve them up via a small baster. I simply suck up the amount of mysis into the baster that I want to feed, lower the baster to the bowl in the tank, and SLOWLY squirt the mysis into the dish. The mysis pretty much just falls into the dish. I leave the equipment off for about 20 minutes or so, keeping an eye on who's coming and going. By the time 20 minutes is done, everyone is at, or has been, to the dish eating. I also check to see how much food is left in the bowl before turning the equipment back on, if there's too much yet, I will leave it off for another few minutes...that generally doesn't happen though...my horses LOVE their mysis

Just about every evening after they've had supper, I carefully (VERY carefully) take the dish out and dispose of any food that hasn't been eaten (ha-ha, not very likely there's any left) and I clean the dish and dispose of any @#@%Q$# bristle worms that might be in there.
My horses have gotten so used to having that baster come and go that they actually have started to take mysis directly from the baster...very cute.
Now, on to getting them to hitch to my fingers

You're welcome, as always Ryk.
I got home a little early today and got the shutter bug...so I did. Lots of supper time pictuers and a couple of "Captain Apache"...arrrrrggghh (you know, like the pirates say?).
Here's the pics...

You'll Love this~
Favorite pirate joke from my cousin Matt.
A holly wood director is interviewing actors for the pirate captain position. Just when he was feeling like he was getting no where a weathered man with a eye patch, peg leg, hook for a hand, captain's uniform, and a parrot on his shoulder walks in and sits down.
"Well, you look quite the part sir. What kind of acting experience do you have?"
The man stares blankly at him...
"Well tell me how you got your peg leg."
"It were a stormy night at sea. The waves were washing over the decks. Some of the riggin' wrapped around me leg and tore it off."
"Hmm...and a what about your hook?"
"Twas a good fight over a bonnie lass, I lost me hand, but won the lass.Arrrrrrh a sweet lass indeed."
"I see...well ah...what about you eye patch?"
"It was a bright sunny day and a sea gull flew over head...."
"And???"
"Arrhh.....it be the first day I got me hook!"

I stumbled into a really cute picture of Maya taking her place at the helm. Not sure where Apache was at the time, but apparently he'd turned over the responsibility...

Because of your great success with your food dish, I have decided to give it a go with my ponies.
You know those little 25 cent toys at grocery stores that come in those clear little balls that come apart in half?
Well I'm going to use one half of the plastic ball for a pony food dish!!!
I plan to suspend off it the bottom using fishing line, which will be glued/tied to a rock or shell, I purchased some frozen brine. I'm going to see if I can train them to eat from the dish so they can get more nurishment and don't have to run around so much trying to snick up the little bbs. The live bbs will still be their main source of food, but if they do decide the frozen is okay~then i will have a back up plan if anything goes wrong with the hatchery

I expect 16 horses tomorrow morning around 10:30 am

I definitely would love to see pictures of that when you have it set up. Wow, best of luck getting those little ones to eating frozen...how cool would that be??? Now, I'm certainly not up on dwarf horses, but would frozen cyclopeez soaked in garlic be something nutritious that you could try them out on? IDK. Might be worth a go.
