Anyone with the drive an intelligence who wants to go to college can now. Making it easier for fools to go twist off and party for four years is no solution.

Intellegence, you should have seen some of the people I went to school with. If you think you need to be smart.
In all seriousness, if you don't go to college that is your choice. I am one of the "fall through the cracks people," my parents made some bad financial choices which they are paying for. so they were unable to pay for me. However they made enough money so I was not qualified for need based scholarships. And although I'm a second gen american, those latin american scholarships are for people named gomez or ramirez they don't want "half white" people getting latin american scholarships. (I speak spanish, and lost out on one scholarship to a guy who can't even speak spanish, and whose family has been in the states for 4 generations, go figure) I worked my way through school. Without going into debt. But I did work 40 to 70 hrs a week during college and took 15 to 18 hrs each symester.

If you are smart and make good grades there are at least partial scholarships available.
Never confuse education, intelligence and wisdom. I have seen some serious idiots with all the education in the world.

Sources of your claim?
the burden of proof should be on the person who says that welfare recipiants drive around in "Big SUV's" with '24 inch rims.... its a blanket statement based on perception... not fact.

So once again, you refuse to source your claims? At least these people have first hand experience... How much of your beliefs are based on facts?

How many pictures would I have to take down at the social services office?

everyone should know that public education is not equal... and that the standards are not the same....
Here is a personal story.
I was researching the quality of public schools in my city... My wife and I already placed our kid in one of the better schools... I was curious to find what the other schools' achievement grades were... what I learned is that schools centered in more urban areas or where parents had a lower income... that they had far less teachers with master degrees. My school had 96% of teachers with master degrees... and was rated as excellent.... where as another school was rated far below and was essentially on watch had around 33% of teachers with master degrees. And my findings were consistant across the board. Many of our schools don't prepare kids for college.

Rylan, if you know anyone who works as a cashier ask them how many of the people with welfare cards have to separate out the alcohol and smokes etc. when they check out. It's pretty common.

the burden of proof is on the people that are making crazy statments... you basically are telling me that all or even most welfare or social aid recipiants are driving around in $40k-$50k vehicles...
I find the claim to be a drastic misrepresentation... and if you believe it to be true... you show me... because the documentation or statistics I would provide would show the income level in which these people are trying to survive and that their records are based off of work statements and so forth... I am not the one making accusations based off of something I think I saw... or probably didn't and am just saying because I have that point of view.
and the small % that do abuse the system... I gave you another interpretation... Another thing that you don't understand is the "poverty mindset" .. look it up

When this idea comes to fruition we will pull our daughter from public education so fast their heads will spin. We are very close to homeschooling at the moment anyway. We would love to be able to choose her school. Several of her friends switched to home schooling last year.

doesn't address the schools in urban areas... yes some will choose to ship kids out... but it doesn't address the problem with the school in the community... Why not bring the resources and the teachers in? This solution doesn't address the problem.. it just gives private schools money and takes away from public.

But the majority of the people who use those resources are in need...One way to fix it is to make education more accessible... that is the best way to bring someone out of poverty..

You really do refuse to admit the system is flawed don't you.

The last voucher program your buddies in the Democrat party blocked was targeted directly at the inner cities. Thats what happens when your party is in the pocket of the teacher's union.

so poor people don't drink or smoke? Research will tell you that poor people use drugs and alchohal more than wealthier people... and why is that... to cope with them being poor.
and what does this have to do with them riding around in escalades with 24 inch chrome rims?

I believe that vouchers can be part of the solution for special needs children or ones with special abilities.... but this is not the solution to a failing public education system...

You just moaned that city schools are not equal. But give the people a choice to go somewhere else, and you are against it.

I never said it wasn't.... nevertheless it seems that you all won't admit that the vast majority of people in the system are of need.
