Oh, I'm missing some posts here because I'm on a little netbook. I'm saying 7 minutes is not too long. Unless a fish has a deep laceration or some other major flaw in it's integument, it can survive much longer than that.

As am I. And many other fish. There are some fish that are sensitive to FW dips, clowns are not one of them.

You have to be very careful and have the right PH and temp. I personally would not want to have a fish endure that.

Me neather it would be my last resort

Think of it like chemo or radition treatment for humans...nobody wants to do it or have to endure it but sometimes you have to bring them to the brink of death to try and save their life.

FW dips are one of the most benign, best tolerated and most commonly implemented preventative treatment out there. It's very effective and very safe when done correctly. I dip all my new fish.

FW dipping will not stop a disease, but I believe with new fish, if there is a parasite attached...the FW should make it jump off

Cranberry can correct or add to this

If FW dips where the cure for everything..... but it's not, unfortunately. Like Brook, it won't be fixed by a FW dip.
