So, I went to the fish store today.
I got a couple of small SPS frags. I love these little frags under $15. They may be brown or not have much color, but since I am testing the waters so to speak, I don't really want to invest in those beautiful $50/frag and $75/frag pieces just yet. Besides, I still have some equipment I want to purchase to get things on the ball.
ALSO, I Talked to the owner of the LFS about the halides sunburning my corals and silly me, I forgot to use the plate glass that blocks massive amounts of UV light from entering the tank. No wonder my corals were frying. lol. So, guess what? He GAVE me...
2x250w metal halide ballasts
3x250w metal halide bulbs
3 sockets
3 reflectors
and 3 glass UV plates.
WOW. He said that one of them is bound not to work, so use the two that does. So now I have the option of upgrading my metal halides to 250w bulbs. heh. I dunno, is that too much light over a 75g? I may just run the halides and not the T5's, or take the two daylight bulbs out of the T5's and finally have a dawn/dusk feature. I dunno.
With the price of electricity right now, does it make more sense to just go ahead and buy a couple of LED fixtures for my tank?
