Thanks Robert. Yeah, taking my sweet time as money comes in.
Im saving up for a more expensive canopy to build for it. I am thinking it will probably be out of solid red oak and have several cool little features that i want to do for clients. Kinda make it a show piece canopy.
Whatever i do, i need to figure out a quick way to keep my daughter outta my sump area and from tugging on thr plumbing and light cords. Then i need to build a custom wooden desk and a new taller custom TV stand!!! Ill be up to my elbows in wood chips after the first of the year. Lol.

Lol I know how kids can be. I remember when my son was 2 and my plumbing on my 180 was the thin pvc. He took his toy hammer to it and cracked the pvc. Of course I was at work at the time. You should have heard the wifes phone call lol. Needless to say I had to redo my plumbing and went with the thicker stuff with child locks. Stuff happens but yeah it sucks when it does. Looking foward to you but and canopy build. I know when I built the canopy to my 180 I found not matter how much I sealed the lid to the canopy the alway warpedon me. In the end I made a nice canopy but left the top open. Will look forward to seeing if you know somethings I dont as I am not much of a carpenter but I did make some nice canopies and for a decent price. Took me about a weekend to do. Good muck I will have a tank build again here shortly. I am waiting till order overflow kits and skimmers and pump from glass holes.com then I will post the build.

Yeah, I never liked schedule 20 PVC. I was always a 40 fan myself - or 80 if I could get my hands on it for cheap. That sucks that happened, but at least now you can look back and laugh at it.
Yeah, I'm going to start on the canopy build once I get this customers aquarium stand and canopy built. I'm finally getting caught up on everything. I was able to work most of the day on it today and I got a fair amount of the trimwork put on. Although, and the sad thing is, my router bolts are stripped! So, I can't take the router off of the router table!!! So, I'll have to spend a few minutes and get a tap and die set and get em' loose and replace the bolts. I also toyed around with the idea of buying a used router from a pawn shop, but I couldn't find any 1/2" shank routers - they were all 1/4" and didn't have the ability to change out the collet to a 1/2" one. So... I guess I may have to buy my own router instead of using my fathers. It's about time I buy all of my own tools anyways. I'm looking at purchasing a jig saw, skil saw, router, and biscuit cutter.... just going to take time to get it all put together.
As far as other purchases go...
My wife purchased a few things for me for Christmas on my aquarium wish list...
1. new filters for the RO/DI unit. It's about spent and I needed it... not only for the tank but also just for house use.
2. new 150w HQI Sockets for my metal halide ballasts. I polished the reflectors and they are ready to go!
3. T5HO light standoffs so that I can finally install my T5's that I purchased in a canopy.
For myself, I just purchased today:
1. 200g of Instant Ocean Sea Salt
2. 40lbs course grain sand
3. one yellow tang
I spent a butt load just then. lol, but I still have enough money to purchase all of the wood necessary to build a canopy - I just have to get around to it. I am setting aside some money so that I know that I will have enough for the canopy. Plus, I am working hard in the taxidermy shop now and I am getting paid well again - so I know that I am going to have plenty of money for tank expenses coming up soon. I am excited that I have a new customer and I am glad that he likes my work. I've gotten plenty of business off of the people that I have already done work for, so I know I must do a pretty good job. lol

Thank you, REEFR.
Yes, IO makes reef crystals.
Prices vary according to location. I like Instant ocean and don't necessarily *need* a reef salt because I am supplementing and going to use a calcium reactor.

Happy to report that the yellow tang is eating well... and even eating flake foods.
Going to try some nori this afternoon and see what happens.
I'm collecting water for a water change and to start removing the sandbed. I should be able to do a 5g water change tomorrow.

make sure you offer nori ALOT. Tangs are strictly herbivores in the wild, and their immune system depends on algae. I feed my YT and supporting crew nori every day, or 5-6 days a week.

Seth why are you removing the sand bed? Are you replacing or ridding completely ? I'm tired of my clowns making their nest in the sand and creating huge sand storms. The only reason why I really blow my rocks off daily is because of the sand on them. I'm considering removing all the sand AGAIN

Im removing the oolite and replacing it with course grain aragonite.
The tank will run with sand until it becomes unmanageable.
Courser grain shouldnt blow around too much.
I did paint the bottom white just in case i wanted to remove it completely
