Wish I had the time!!! I would have to go backwards though since they have been up almost a year (12 and 24). I do have some pics on here somewhere, but have re-acquascaped a few times! Right now my 12 is sorta empty...cept for a fire red shrimpy. My 2 clowns, 1 true and one b/w occi have paired up very nicely (just posted a pic on another message here) and hopefully waiting to see a clutch soon...and will move to the 12 for rearing-a huge longshot! Should this happen, like the other fella with the same pair, I will def share "what I get"! I enjoy reading your excitement re: your tank and can't wat to see what ou add next! You must have some great LFS"s in your area with the coral...you would think me in FL would be in hog heaven but the area I reside is nil. I have to drive hours to get anything!!!(which I might do today-I need a fix!
)

Well that sucks about not having any LFS, if I didn't have any I probably wouldn't of even gotten into this hobby. I'm pretty lucky they are really good places.

No they really shouldn't look like that, he is a little gnarled up he really didn't look like that when I got him. He should heal up though right? Or am I screwed?

He is dying. Starfish are prone to disintegration from bacterial infections or possibly starvation. This is probably what is going on with yours.

Shoot when I got him he had a slight chunk taken out of him closer to its center. Do you think I can get a refund or is it my fault?

If you are at fault at all it is from not doing enough research on what the common outcome of starfish in our is. I doubt the fish store would give you any credit for a return. Which store?

Ocean and Seas... Its hasn't even been 24hrs since I got it, I'm gonna call to see what they say... Probably that its my fault, this sucks.

Ok so I called,
Bill: picks up says "hey",
I tell him whats going on
he says "ok Brian usually sees what he can do in this type of a situation, hold on I'll give him a call he isn't in tonight". Talks to him while I am on hold and I can hear him telling him my situation. Picks up my line again says "Did you acclimate properly?"
I say I believe so an hour and a half long drip acclimation.
"well thats good, how are your parameters?"
I say Parameters 12-04-09:
Temp: 78
S.G.: 1.025
Ammonia: 0
P.H.: 8
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate:15
He says "Well thats what we keep it at in our tanks. Sounds like your tank is doing fine we're open till 8 why don't you bring it over and we can see what we can do."
So I went over and Bill's there I show him the star and he says yeah when they start to look like this its pretty much done for.
He said that if there appeared to be a little chunk taken out of the star when I first bought it, it would be fine for him to reimburse me or trade it for something else of equal value. There was another formia there so he said or you can take this one so thats what I did. Its in far better condition then what the first one I got looked like when I purchased it. He said if there are any problems with this one just gives us another call ASAP. I think I am pretty lucky, I know most places wouldn't do this but Oceans and Seas has always been great with me.
Brian the owner is awesome and has helped me out with almost every purchase I've made with them. Moost of the workers are great too. Funnily enough the only guy I don't like there is the one who sold me the gnarly star, and in the past when I had ordered poms "pre-picked out the best looking poms for me" before I even got to the lfs. One of which clearly was holding a dead pom and missing a leg. Everyone else though is awesome. I'm never going to talk to this particular guy again, he is an a$$ hole and talks down to people including the guy who gave him the job. If anyone ever goes there beware of the guy named chris with the gauged out ears and wallet chain.

Well I must say I am surprised. Good for you. However do read up on this creitter please. Not going to be easy to keep him in your tank.

Yeah...good luck with it....and I agree with Henry...hard to keep
I would have gotten something else ;)

You really think I should have gotten something else? I know they are definitely the most sensitive thing you can have in a tank, and my tank is only 24 and subject to change slightly every now and then. I will FOR SURE be doing more research, I knew it wasn't going to be easy when I got the first one but I didn't expect it to go in the first day of having it. Thanks Henry and Meowzer for your thoughts I really really appreciate it and value your opinions A LOT. I'll update on how the star is doing, till then
(I know he's saying hi but it looks like bye too lol)

Well I've decided an hour and a half long acclimation wasn't long enough so I've been doing a drip since 8:15pm its now 11:11 and its not over yet.
