Beautiful tank! I see that you have a lot of top of the line equipment. Are you having this built for you? I looks like a professional install job! I wish my sump looked as nice. Great build.

Thank you!
Hubby is the one who is putting everything together. That's why it's taken a long time to get things in place. He is out of town most of the week so the day or two that he is home doesn't give him much time to get anything done in the tank. Right now everything but the calcium reactor is in place. Hopefully in the next 2-3 weeks everything will be done.
The sump/refugium is a custom build by LifeReef. Hubby didn't feel confident enough to build it himself so he ordered it. For the next tank he'll know now what to do.
I'm really proud of him! He is s a perfectionist when it comes to building things and it takes him forever to make sure that all lines are attached and put away nicely. He does have the last cords to put away. Last week he installed the chiller and I programmed the lights in the controller so now all loose lines need to be hidden and tucked away.

I do love the 400W's, especially the Radium 20k bulbs.
Without the chiller and all doors closed to the cabinet and canopy, the temp would climb very quickly to undesirable level. Even with A/C running at 73, and doors open, the temp would get to 82.6 during the day. Now I have the chiller set for 81, corals seem to like that the best. Leathers wouldn't raise up and show polyps well at 79 and 80.
I'm using the AC controller as a backup for temp. If the chiller fails and temp starts raising, the right side MH turns off when the temp hits 82.3, the left side MH turns off when the temp hits 82.6.
Well I just got a 180 yesterday and am going to use 400w with VHO actinics and am hoping to not use a chiller. I am thinking with a few extra fans it might be OK.

Did you consider getting retro T5 instead of VHO? How many 400's are you going to use? You may not be able to get the water cool enough with just fans. We were lucky to have one of the A/C floor vents right next to the tank so it would blow into the stand when doors were open. Small computer fans would not have been enough with 2 400W MH's. You won't even believe how hot they burn.

Hm, Well the guy that is making the canopy services tanks. So I will have to talk to him about this.

You had posted a link to this thread in another forum, but I have a question about your lighting.
On your T5's, the reflectors seem to clip to the bulbs, is that correct? If so, what brand and so on are they, and do they come in different lengths. Also, if it isn't to much trouble, how wide are they form edge to edge on the reflector? like 2" or something.
Thanks
Shane

Yes, the reflector clips to the bulb so you can turn the reflector to direct it as you wish. I'll find out the brand of the retro kit that we have. Basically it was a bag of end caps, wires, reflectors and bulbs. The bulbs and reflectors came in 2, 3 and 4 foot lengths. We have 2 4 footers and 2 2 footers (1 of each in front and back).
I'll just take care of my girls until they go to bed and I'll get you some measurements after that.

Awesome, thanks a bunch. I'm trying to get my lighting figured out and this may be the ticket I'm looking for.
BTW...the build looks great....One day I hope to have something nice like that in my home....Its a real center piece for a room
thanks

looks like most of the individual reflectors can be clipped on the bulbs. You can buy ice cap 48 inch individual reflectors for about $22 at several places online.

This is the package we got:
48" 2 x 54w T5 HO Retrofit Kit

As the bulbs we have both Reef Blue Actinics and True Actinics. I'm trying to remember if we have the Reef Blue's in front and the others in the back.

Some new additions on a frag rack in the tank. I have more new purchases on 2 frag racks in the smaller tank but those are nearly impossible to take pics of.
Hope you enjoy :)
But first an Acan rock that I got for free. It had a fraction of the heads that it has now. I managed to nurse it to health. Had it a little over a month.

Random zoa and paly shots. I'm not sure of the names of most of them. I forget so easily :(
Purchased from CodyLowe, GreenReefer and a few others

1) Tank is AMAZING!!!! I love the equipment and most importantly, the amazing corals.
2) The middle acan you posted up a few, freaking awesome. tons of colors on that.
3) Kudos to the recovered acan. Thats how you make frag money right there!!

Very cool SPS. Are those encrusting montis hard to keep? A local friend wants to give me some frags of his rainbow monti and sunset in a trade but Im afraid that theyll do back. He claims theyre about as hard as an acan, which means easy peasy haha.
