ok, i've come across a slight problem. nothing that'll harm the fish or anything just an annoyance.
the 150w lighting unit i found for £4.99 is a different size bulb to the metal halides i have.
so my question is, wat is a CHEAP metal halide unit? 3 bulbs at 150w.
now i have the bulbs im set on getting halides.
i've looked on e-by and i've come across a 5ft arcadia unit for 3 150w halides and 4 54w actinic t5 for about £200, good price but its pick up only and miles away:(
but im SET on getting halides so i can support these corals and anemone when i come across the time to get one

ok done some surfing of the web and found some cheap halides. single 150w halide units at £168. there arcadia classic pendants, im thinking if i buy two of them, and place them over each mound of rocks, thats where the corals will be it'll support them, and then add say a couple t5's to go right the way across the tank just to light it up.
could this work?

ok cool, the lights may have to wait a month or two because my laptop finally died and s i had to go out and buy another £400 that coulda bought me my halides got me a laptop.
i need a laptop for my college work so that couldnt wait!
as for now, i will just have to stick about 5 different stock PC lights in there just to brighten it up, no corals in there atm tho so that doesnt matter.

you still getting the emp angel? The norm for Emps is they are coral eaters. They will leave some alone but most will become food

I think he's just going to take the risk (Skate, correct me if I'm wrong)

yehh im still getting it, im just going to try a few zoas and maybe one nice coral, just to brighten it up and stuff which is cheap so if it does decide to chomp it, then it isnt too expensive.
so yes BTLD you are right:)
started copper treating in the QT today, clowns had white spot/ich, considering how quickly my last clown died of it im not taking any chances, so yeh, its a 10 day treatment, called cuprizin by waterlife. aparantly it'll kill any bacteria that is present:)
im not going to be having any corals or inverts in the QT so it really doesnt matter.
fish had abit of a skitz when i put it in tho, the tank went blue for about 5 mins and the fish were jumpy, but there ok now:( it is nasty stuff but has to be done.
new laptop came today:) love it:)

ok thats fair enough:), wat about a montipora? or is that as good as gone?
ok cool, id imagen then that things like hammer corals, bubble, anemones, stuff with wavy tenticles should be left alone thens?

Anemones should be fine.
What type of montipora?
Usually the least safe corals are polyps (zoas, button polyps, goniopora aka flower pot coral, pagoda cup, star polyps) basically the more it looks like a plant, the more likely they are to eat it.
A lot depends on the fish, some prefer SPS polyps, some only eat zoas. My dwarf angels don't eat coral, but my friend has a flame that destroys her acans.
I would say torches, frogspawn, hammers, and bubble coral are pretty safe, still a risk. Bubble coral has the harshest sting, so that to me would be a good one to start with.

ok cool, i'll have a look and see which one to get,
the sting isnt harsh enough to kill the fish is it? or to open a wound to allow it to get infected? i wanna see every fish i buy to get to full size ! lol

I don't think it would wound a fish unless it was already really unhealthy. I'd be more worried about an anemone than a bubble coral, but they are very similar.

ok thats no worries thens, the fish are healthy, the lion refuses to eat frozen so gets really skinny, then eats about 4 shrimps and podges up massively, healthy tho, like colouring is good, although he is very dark, which suspects me to think maybe he could be a russels? i hope not tho, maybe not, his fins at about halfway through are very white still from juvi colours.
very active at night tho and hasnt hassled anyone since when i bought the clowns:)
oh and with the montipora im not too sure, i need to research them and then i'll get back to you on that:)

ok just heard abit of bad news, i asked my LFS whether he could get me two arcadia classica single 150w. he said he could, and there reasonably cheap.
but he told me that in 2012, they are stopping halides altogether, and there stopping making the units and the bulbs and everything, so after 2012 if i need a new bulb or something they will be incredibly expensive or near impossible to find, you think i should just ditch the bulbs now and go straight for t5s?

I highly doubt that this will happen with all the people in the hobby that have MH's. What's happening is that HQI's (double ended bulbs) are becoming more popular and the older mogul style (single ended bigger bulb) is slowly being phased out. I still don't think it can be done in under 5years time. Too many people like the mogul design. It's all hype, another thing to get people into the T5 trend... Get HQI's, you'll be fine. They're not going to be phased out because they're used to medical purposes as well.

the clowns are in:D only the lion in the QT now.
i took your advice and put the clowns in before the lion, to keep aggression down.
the levels have been down for a while now so i thought it was time to put clowns in:)
they seem to like their new home:D
i dont think im going to put the lion in untill he's on frozen. so if that involves having to QT the angel with a divider in there then i will have to do that.
i'll give the angel more room tho.

ok, i picked up the angel today, i LOVE HIM, eating already:D
only problem is, my lion went craxzy at him,
i dont know whats wrong with the lion, but when i put him in, the lion went up to him and actually went to eat him? the angel is bigger then the lion, but the lion went to bite him.
didnt do any damage, but im now considering gettin rid of the lion, he is causeing me so much hassle, i may get a puffer down the line if i get rid of the lion.
