there are 37500 legal gun sales a day in this country. approximately 40% of the country has a gun in the household legally.
67.6% percent of the population drink alcohol....meaning there is alcohol in the house.
the numbers are not that far off percentage wise to even remotely state the death disparaty is a matter of percentages.
and i have to ask...if law enforcement is all you need for protection....why do you own a handgun? since it is so dangerous to pop off at an intruder in your home. i mean, you might hit a family member. 911 isn't good enough for you in your home? it is good enough for you in public........

1 in 4 adults in the US own guns?  What NRA site did you get that inflated number from?  I can count at least 20 adults I know who don't own a gun, and that's in the redneck State of Texas.  What percentage of 16 year olds + drive in the US?  Sorry, try again.
its from a 2010 Gallup study.......my alcohol numbers are. the gun ownership are from an anti gun site...want a link...i can provide it unlike your mystery supermarket open carry shooting.

and since you are going to include illegal drinking to help disappropriate your alcohol numbers......
lets remove the illegal gun owners and their crimes from the equation. and compare deaths caused by legally owned firearms to deaths by legally consumed alcohol......wanna bet the percentage per capita is greater with alcohol than with legal firearms?

Love those NRA inflated numbers. Prove it.
AGAIN, I have no problem with people owning guns for personal protection on their personal property. The cops can't be everywhere, every minute of the day. It's Wyatt Earp's like you I have a problem with. Is it some ego trip that you need to sling that 6 shooter around with you everywhere you go? In my 54 years of life, I've NEVER been in a situation in a public place hwere I've had my life threatened by someone carrying a gun. No one in my immediate family has ever been confronted by someone carrying a gun. My brother almost got his foot shot off by one of his buddies on a deer hunting trip once, but that's about it. Shoot, I've been going down to Juarez, Torreon, Acuna, and Piedras Negras, Mexico for the last year, and I've never been threatened down there. Is it luck? Beats me. I know how to handle weapons. It's that other 40% of the population that's walking around with one that I have no clue what they know about handling a gun properly is what I'm worried about. Look at that incident at that restaurant I played poker in. Some guy in there with a gun in the back of his pantsk gets in an argument with some other person and pull it out and starts shooting. So far, they say the altercation wasn't premeditated. The guy was half drunk and got ticked off. How many other "loose cannons" like him are walking around with guns tucked under their shirts?

one, you obviously have no clue about wyat earps views on guns...that much is clear.
two, as i have stated before, I dont own a gun....so if i am the type of gun owner you fear....you have deeper issues than those that are painfully obvious from your swf postings.
i will be back with those links.

It's ridiculous to compare the two. How often does someone have to use their weapon in a deadly situation? How many times in your lifetime when you owned a gun did you have to draw that weapon in self defense of self protection? Once, twice, NEVER? You have millions of adults consuming alcohol every single day. At least 30% of them drink over the legal limit. 10% will get in a vehicle and drive it. 2% - 5% of those will get into an accident, or get pulled over for DUI. Statistical fact.

Wait, you don't own a gun? Then what in the heck are you even providing input into this argument? Oh that's right. You're the resident SWF antagonizer that has to put his two cents into every controversial thread that pops up. You're not even one of these 40% who has a gun.
So what is your great protection from getting attacked or your home broken into? You just look at them the wrong way and they drop the gun in fear?

You must like looking foolish. Not only don't I sight partisan sources I go with the lower estimate. According to Gallup the number is 3 of 10.

I used to own guns. I have since transfered ownership to my father and father in law. My wife owns a small handgun still......but anyone breaking into my house will be greeted with 165 lbs of angry dog before they get in the door.......she owns the gun for those nights i work real late. i dont need a gun in public...because as I stated...I hav e a friend that open carries. the sausage shop guy next door has a gun on him with cc, he spends half his day in my shops as does the automechanic that also has a cc. I choose not to carry right now. the reason I am in the conversation.........in the future i will choose differently. and i still would like to retain that choice.
I dont smoke weed, i hate it in fact...but i support its legalization....just because you dont do something doesnt mean your shouldnt care.

Was you anecodotal story about the 20 people you knew statistical fact? You try to use science, then go directly to nonscience to try to back up your claim. Then when others put out resonable controlled scientific studies, you ignore them.

In texas, carrying in a bar is illegal... But hey, keep on trying...
Uh, if someone wants to bring a gun into a bar, they can. If they don't get caught, or don't pull it out, whose gonna know? If you're going to shoot someone in a public place like a restaurant or bar, you do honestly think they give a rat's whether it's legal or not?

Do you want me to put down names? So everry person you know owns a gun? If you're curious, do your own survey. Wouldn't be hard to do. Go hang out at your local mall or bar, and simply ask anyone that walks by. You might be surprised what you find out.

First one's nice. Of those 800,000, how many were sold to the same individuals? How many guns were sold back to the gun shops so they can simply turn around and buy the "new and improed" model? Gun nuts are worse than car buyers. They have to buy a new plinker every couple of years "just in case". Find the statistics of how many guns the average NRA gun fanatic owns.
The other one's? Again 5 years old or older. There was an uptick in gun sales just due to the Glenn Beck's and Bill O'reilly's crying the "sky is falling" as long as Obama is in office. We KNOW he's going to take away all your guns. You people were raiding the Walmart's and Academy's buying every box of shells you could find because some Right Wingnut told you they would be gone. Ammo dealers were laughing all the way to the bank. "A fool and his money is soon parted."

Transfered ownership? You mean walk into their house and hand them the gun? A 165lb dog doesn't fair well against a .45 or shotgun. You have a friend.. Wow, that sounds familiar.
