Hey peef very nice indeed the MH make a world of difference.. Looks awesome..
For most all corals you should be testing for calcium, and alkalinity at bare minimum. Calc @ 400 to 450 ppm is ideal and alk @ 280. PH @ 8.2 to 8.4 and testing that is a must in all circumstances along with nitrates.. there is alot more to test for but if you do weekly water changes and your corals look full and healthy its prob not a necessity. Seeing as though a 15% water change in your tank will replace most all of your essential trace elements, I have found that dosing isnt necessary. Iodine, stronium are a couple more that corals use to help them stay healthy and propogate growth. But again I havent to date needed to test for any of those as my corals seem to be growing and doing well. I already fragged my torch coral.. my colt coral fragged a piece on its own.. and my shrooms and zoas are every where.
My zoas started to spread within 2 weeks of having them in my tank. Shrooms took a bit longer but in a month I had a few super reds starting to grow. Ric's from what i am told take the longest and is prob a factor along with color variation as to why they seem to be more expensive.
