Guess some people have never heard of Ellis Island. When our country was sparsely populated immigration control wasn't needed but those days are long gone.
It always amazes me that people will take the side of known criminals against law enforcement. At this point I think we should just halt all legal immigration from Mexico until they start pulling their weight on the border. You notice the Mexican military who was on site within a matter of less than a minute did nothing about the rock throwing or people trying to illegally cross the border.
I think the real terrorists are the left wingers who want to open the borders to whatever scum wants to infest our country.

What I really find annoying is the video. I watched it before I read the story. Couldn't tell anything from this video (not like the rodney king video from back in the day). Then when you read the story it tells you what is going on in the video. Now from what I saw, this video was cut and editted. Where is the rest of the video? And why in the hell if the video is so concrete evidence of "wrong doing" does the story have to break down each part in the video of what is going on.

Kinda of convenient someone was there to video it too. Were those people making another smuggling run or intentionally trying to provoke an incident?
There was really no legitimate reason to edit that video.

The kid wasn't shot for crossing the border from what I can tell. He was shot for assaulting the officer.
I think you are confusing immigrants with trespassers. Immigrants are welcome here.

Just like MOST of our ancestors. Like I said, mine like many showed up on a ship, stood in line on Ellis Island and signed the book. We make it pretty easy actually. Make yourself known, and legal.

You know they came up with a great invention, it's called tear gas. It is used all over the world against crowds and against people throwing things at cops. Where is the tear gas? I can come up with about 20 different things to use against people throwing rocks rather then bullets.

like I said, they don't know what other thugs are waiting to open fire. Everyone is always on alert. None of us can walk in that agents shoes until we are actually doing his job. Border patrol is probably the next worse job next to a cop. Do a search on Border patrol agents, and Mexican murders. Even big tourist towns aren't safe anymore. For ever few murders we read about there are probably 20 times more that we don't. Children included.

That, and something along the lines of risk/reward. I usually don't speed more then 15mph higher then the posted limit, because over 15 is considered reckless driving. If Mexican drug smugglers, regardless of age, knew the only thing that they would face, is some tear gas, or other non-lethal force, there would an exodus into the US. I think if I knew that all I'd faced was some tear gas, I'd be knocking off a Best Buy right now...

The same reason we are fighting a war in Iraq that we shouldn't be fighting. Since Mexico can't handle this situation, we have to step up. The US is the world police.
Okay a question for everybody. Let's same the border gets shut down. Immigration stops. The immigrants use the procedure. Do you really think this will stop drugs getting into this country? Do you think this will stop crime on our streets? This fix is just the band-aid on the situation. What is next shutting down the Canadian border also? Do you really think that shutting the border down is the final reason? If not, what else? Realistic solutions please. How are you going to shut the border down realistically? Build a wall? Who pays for it? Shooting immigrants as they cross. Society will never stand for that.
I understand the incident was provoked by throwing rocks. What if the kid wasn't throwing rocks, would he still be shot? How long did it take to get immigrants processed at Ellis island compared to get processed now? I am sure there is alot more time waiting now.
Like I said, give a fix for this situation. What it is, who will pay for it, and will the American people and government go for it. not just you and your own opinion but the country as a whole.

I'm no rocket scientist, but if I lived in a county where when every other person got shot, trying to enter a country where thy weren't welcome...well, I'd probably not attempt to enter that country, illegally.

And yes, I'm all for putting "battleships" in the gulf and blowing up every boat we see, trying to smuggle drugs into this country. We do it on a daily basis, already and the 3 years I got to do it, was some of the most rewarding of my life.

once again.....immigrants vs illegals. You have to see the difference. You come here to live, pay taxes, abide by our laws you WILL HAVE ZERO problems becoming a citizen. So what if they have to wait. My cousins wife happily waited. At least its legally.
Try getting into Austrailia,China, France, Ireland, etc. Just try it. They aren't going to greet you with wine and roses. And on top, try it with drugs and weapons. Then if by chance you do get in ILLEGALLY, try setting up a home, job etc. It will never happen.

So what's your great solution, just let anyone who wants to come waltzing in? No matter what else happens we have to do better at guarding the border and if that includes use of deadly force so be it. There are plenty of honest citizens and LEGAL immigrants here who have been victimized by illegals in one form or another so I have no issue with using deadly force if that's what it is going to take to get the point across.
