i dont know whats going on in america right now, all i know is that the american dollar and the canadian dollar are pretty close to equal, i would like take advantage of that by shopping in america, if it wernt for the 2 hours i have to wait to get across the border, with the customs officer asking me where i work, why i work there, how much i make, what time i start work, etc etc. no wonder people jump the fences into america, the line ups to damn long.

you are absolutely right. I had NO idea sharkboy was only 13. To be honest, I believe there are a LOT of things wrong with America. After reading through the posts, I felt kind of disgusted in the (though we are all hypocrits by nature) hypocrisy contented. At the same time, I believe too many Americans, in particular, resolve issues as they hear it from our own press, and government agencies. Obviously neither would profit from telling us what they KNOW is really going on. Nonetheless, I had NO right to retort off without TRULY thinking first and having a held tongue. One of my problems when BIG issues (gov, religion, politics) are brought up is doing what I did. It does not get me in trouble often, but I do realize my mistakes later. Shark Boy, if you read this, I am sorry, adn I just want you to focus on the good, not the bad, and be able to judge when you are able to show (in any caliper) what it takes to do the right thing and make a difference instead of pointing the obvious out (which we all succomb to) and hypocraphising yourself when you have the very clear Heart and Mindset to Better EVERYONE. Be judicious of yourself before commenting on others. And then when you do comment others, be VERY careful of how you phrase it. Tobin, you seem to be with a right mind, and heart. Also forgive me please.
And just for the record, America is WRONG in a lot that it does, with or without my vote. SHARKBOY! You are right to question our authourity if it means you have better ideals for the world than that which we experience. Have FAITH, HOPE, AND LOVE, BUT THE MOST IMPORTANT OF THESE IS LOVE.

wasn't Israel formed by the UN? and it's the UN, with the exception of the US, who have wanted to turn their backs on Israel just so they can be attacked and destroyed from all sides.
I've been out of town so I missed a lot of this discussion. (glad I missed some of it) This post caught my eye as I skimmed back up to speed.
IMO, prophecy is being fulfilled. http://www.prophecyvoice.com/prophec...ent_future.htm
76. Zechariah foreshadowed modern warfare.
Prophecy: Old Testament: Zechariah 14:12: (Written: 520 – 518 BC)
This is the plague with which the Lord will strike all the nations that fought against Jerusalem : Their flesh will rot while they are still standing on their feet, their eyes will rot in their sockets, and their tongues will rot in their mouths.
To be fulfilled: End Times: In Zechariah, chapter 14, the prophet says a time will come when nations gather to attack Jerusalem . In Zechariah 14:12, the prophet says the nations that attack Jerusalem will be struck with a "plague" that will cause their flesh to rot while they are still standing. This might be a fitting description for modern warfare if it were described by a person who lived 2500 years ago, as Zechariah did. Chemical weapons are capable of causing rapid deterioration of flesh. And a blast of heat from a nuclear weapon could have a similar affect. Some Bible scholars, however, believe that this plague could refer to a supernatural event from God to protect the Holy Land .

true, Illegals know they're braking the law. But the fact is that Companies also know, they just play the Blind game when it comes to verifying documents..
You can't tell me if someone walked-in at any company office looking for a job.
Imagene this someone looking like a totally mexican Cowboy(that just steped out of Guadalajara, barely speaking English..Wouldn't in the back of your mind be thinking, he's gotta be Illegal.?
(part of the Naturalization process requires you to fully understand and speak English)
Usually people that can't speak English or speak only a little will be working as contrat laborer..Or low-end/minimun wage jobs like Landscapers dishwashers ect..cause that's where they're most wanted or needed. and those type of jobs don't require alot of Communication skills and where the Employers like to play Blind..
I know that was a little racial stereotype but it's true and it doesn't bother me..The truth Hurts sometimes..

I find this thread to be very disappointing and as an American I am embarrassed. Why is that so many people are blind the fact that the American companies that hire the illegals are the ones responsible for the “problem” (I don’t see it as a problem because these people do a lot of the labor intensive jobs most Americans won’t…I don’t know a single person willing to work fields for minimum wage or bus tables at a restaurant for near nothing).
You can’t blame the Mexican government for this, it falls squarely on greedy corporate US (and our government for allowing it) and their desire to fill their own pockets with $$ while the middle class toils away. I think the problem is that most white Americans identify with corporate US and view minorities with skepticism and intolerance. I’ve known a lot of Hispanics and most of these people are hard working, loyal and very family orientated, these are characteristics we should admire. If these illegals are sending their hard earned money back to Mexico to help support their families and offer them a better life, I say good for them and in the long run it might allow them to send their children to college and afford them better lives and if that means another percent of my earnings going to taxes so be it, I can afford it.

I am embarrassed by your embarrassment. The area I live in is mostly hispanic. The Vista Sheriff and Oceanside police departments would disagree with your assumption that illegal aliens are helpful to these United States. A staggering majority of violent crime in my area is committed by illegal aliens. They also make up the majority of gangs where I live. I work alongside a Mexican resident who went through the process to work in the US legally. He is a wonderful law-abiding citizen and a model for others who would like to work here. He supports prosecuting illegal aliens to the law's fullest extent.

Jmick, will all respect, I think you're way off here. You live in Il. The people complaining here live in states most affected by illegal immigration.
You say Corporate America is hiring illegals, yet the amnesty folks spout statistic after statistic siting the majority of illegals do blue collar, agriculture work. Which is it? Surely you don't consider the agriculture business in the USA as "corporate" America.
You're willing ot pay a small part of your income to help them send money back to Mexico. I respect that, but how about you start by sending a part of your income to those of us in states on the front lines?
Are you aware that administrators in the Dallas ISD recently were being hired only if they were fluent in Spanish? That's a bit of an issue.... Our schools along the border are being overwhelmed. So are our medical facilities. It's easy for you to have a more noble mindset to this because you're not feeling the effects.
I'm no giving any bosses any excuses for hiring illegals. Heck, I'm all for punishing them. Fine the heck out of companies, send CEO's to jail if you want to. I'm all for it. JUST MAKE SURE IT IS LEGAL FOR EMPLOYERS TO VERIFY citizenship first....
As I've said before, I went to college in south Texas. I've got a lot of hispanic friends too. Friends that are here legally.

I absolutely can and do blame the Mexican government.
They provide maps and guides to entering the US illegally. They oppose us building a fence or putting our military on the southern border like they have on their southern border. They refuse to address the issue of smugglers and drug smugglers shooting across the border at our law enforcement officers. They refuse to regulate money being shipped in from the US.
I blame them for all of this.

Sigh, why are you only able to see things as black and white...is this a phenomena reserved for the far bible banging right wing? This is not a problem that can be pegged solely on Mexico. You can’t blame them for coming when there are jobs to be had and it’s the people and corporations offering the jobs who are to blame because if there were no jobs for them they would have no real motive to be here. I started a new job earlier this year and I needed to provide proof of my citizenship.

I believe in Absolutes, Jmick. I believe in right and wrong... (Having said that, this isn't one of those issues.) if that's a "Bible banging right wing" trait so be it.
I absolutely can blame people for being criminals... there is a legal way to work here and an illegal way. Like I said, you're not on the front line. You haven't been affected by crime or financially hit by illegal immigration.
What would Mexico do if the role suddenly reversed? Would they allow millions of US citizens to migrate across the border seeking better jobs? The answer, based on their policies with there more poor southern neighbors, is heck no...
We had social issues here that need ot be addressed. We don't need to be carrying Mexico's issues as well.

Agreed, I know where Carol Stream is....Nice area....

I live in GA and it seems that we are being overrun, but I do know that its 10x worse elsewhere...If you come to this country to work and live here b/c it would help better your life and go through the process of Naturalization, Welcome Home..If you come here to work and not pay taxes, send all money home, not help our economy, then go back from wince ye came..

I think that the US is doing this new immigration act thing so we can know who is actually here and if they are a danger to our national security...
Wasn't this done in 1986 with illegal immigrants...I believe they were granted a pass to obtain citizenship at this time, which is basically what is happening now.

yes, a path to citizenship is called "amnesty" which is what the 1986 law amounted to, and what the new bill amounts to. the 1986 law was supposedly intended to cut down on people illegally entering the country and it did no such thing. it also mandated more strict border security, which was completely ignored, as the border security provision in this new bill will be ignored. the 1986 law also mandated tougher penalties for employers who did not adequately investigate their employees' work status, this was ignored as well. so as history shows, this new proposed law is not worth the paper it is written on. it may have good intentions (or better yet, it may have wording to make people THINK that it has good intentions), but it's not going to be enforced and illegal immigration will still be a major problem in this country.

Not black or white, right and wrong. Once again, (the old who will pick the strawberries scenario) prison labor... it works. My friend was killed by a drunk driver outside of Fresno CA who was here illeagally. Of course the illeagal alien driver didnt have any insurance, or valid DL, my friend left behind a wife and two kids. If you dont see illeagal immigration for what it is, without candy coating it (criminals breaking the law) then forfit your job to an illeagal alien and move to Mexico. It dosent matter how hard working, loyal (to whom?, Mexico?) or family oriented someone is. If they break the law, they're a criminal and should be prosecuted as such. People who come here illeagally should be deported or locked up... period. Take a look at the illeagal alien prison #s in CA sometime. Why cant Mexico fix their own problems instead of cowardly running from them and bringing them here. If ones loyalty lies outside the USA , they should leave.
