With the exception of medical care the rest are all luxuries. Until the basic necessisties can be met, i.e food, shelter and clothing people have no business reproducing. The the mindset needs to change. These kids grow up in poverty because their necessities arent being met. Not daycare, summer camp and Ipods. Producing more kids when you cannot provide for them keeps the cycle going. It requires very little to keep them in poverty which is what is currently happening... Are they content living this way? I doubt it or they wouldnt be trying to flee. They are trying to flee what they refuse to fix, yet are creating here what they are fleeing from. Makes no sense. Why dosent Mexicos fix its own problems?

WRONG!!! Read the Constitution!!!!!! Congress declares war...NOT the President.
Why is it that people talk about certain topics and haven't even read our Constitution? Man that makes me mad.

Agree with you 110%!!! Some people just don't get it. They say, "We can't close our borders...that's discrimination!!" No it's not. It's about protecting the American, and tourists from other countries, people.
Some people also say that putting a border along Mexico is wrong and that we shouldn't do that. Guess what?! The Mexican government has a border boarding the Southern parts of Mexico. Guess what?! They shoot whoever crosses the line.
So I ask people...Why can't we lock down our borders to protect ourselves? Of course not shooting people over it.

True, but if you read the act of Congress that was passed before we invaded Iraq this time you could certainly make the argument it was a declaration of war...

Darn that whole learning thing!
Most close borders arguments include the complaint that they don't assimulate into the american society. But why would I want to become part of America if that is the way we feel about there culture.
If you look at the Romans and how they conquered the world. They did it by incorporating the conquered culture into their own.

Scholars agree the collapse was mostly due to immoral leaders who ignored the populace they were supposed to govern and protect. (Caesar and Caligula chiefly) Indeed, the wreckless, taboo lifestyle of most Romans contributed quite a bit too. Given the fact most Romans used mercury as a flavor, were bisexual and enjoyed "aged" foods (nearly rotten) it's almost surprising they lasted as long as they did.

All true, however you're leaving out the loss of a "Roman" identity that their civilization also suffered. When the Legions weakened so did the Empire.

The empire crumbed because it did not absorb Christianity fast enough. They were hardheaded on their large immobile military and Pagan gods.

I would disagree with this on two fronts, although I'm certainly willing to admit I could be wrong.
Constantine made Christianity legal and the Legions were incredibly mobile. The highway system allowed their troops large movement capabilities and supply lines.
A lot of factors contributed to it's fall... I'm gonna stick to my original point, however, that one clear issue was that the citizens of Rome loss their sense of what being a "Roman" meant.

Okay, what's being US mean? Baseball and apple pie? When will we alienate from that? When can we change our ways of living?
There is a slow movement to introduce soccer into our pastime. Latino music have been hitting the charts for a while. And, we are heavily influenced by the Africans, Asians, as well as the entire Europeans.
What I am getting at is there are no rules carved in stone for being 'American'. American is like the Roman. We assimilate via immigration taking part of those cultures. Likewise, the new comer lost part of his/her 'roots' and gain a little 'American'.
Believe it or not, these immigrants don't want to be 'American'. This is when you say 'then go back to where you come from'. Well, if they can, they will. But they are here to stay. So, the people with problems either put up or pack up.
I like banging head with you 1journeyman. You obviously have a hard stand and good information to back it up :)
