    ryanhayes96's 55 gallon hex diary

Oscars and especially pacu will not be a good choice, these guys get way too big. This tank has lots of vertical no horizontal swimming space. You could do lots of little fish with live plants and some cured tree root. Lots of small Amazonian fish with color. :happyfish Just a suggestion.Moby

    what is normal sump evaporation?

I live in Arizona, and my 180 loses on some days almost 2 gallons! Think about it, the average humidity here is about 15% all the time! I get out of the shower and before I can finish toweling off my hair dry. Moby

to stir the sand or to not stir up the sand

Well, during the day they hide it caves, liverock, etc. But at night they come out to scavenge the tank... Good point, but I'm not how sure they really stir up the sand. I love my conches. They do a great job, don't bother anybody, never even think about predation and I like watching their...

Pics Of 10 Gal Bf. Im 4 Months Young Be Nice!

Did someone call for the Tang Police? I thought I heard sirens! I agree, I'm glad you took the little fella back. I thought you were getting the bigger tank in only a few weeks or a month at the most. Look at it this way when you do get the bigger tank, you'll be farther along in what you...

Yeah, I can understand your dad being a little worried about it breaking. Hope the hurricane misses you guys. :scared: It might take the sand a few days to settle down. But since you are going to move it anyway, it really shouldn't matter. it will just get stirred up again. Moby

to stir the sand or to not stir up the sand

What about just having 2 brittle stars in your 75 gallon to keep the sand clean? Well they do help keep the ditritous (Oh I know I butchered that spelling!) cleaned up behind and under the LR. Moby

Setting up new tank from old

You might get a small spike of ammonia from stirring up the sand bed. Which could result in a small cycle. Try your best not to disturb the sand if you can help it. Otherwise you should be able to put everything back in the tank with no problems! :happyfish Good luck with the move! Moby

    Mutated Conch?

Well welcome to the forum BryGuy! And I must say that is one helluva first post. I would suggest looking at some anatomical photos or drawings that would help indentify the "eyes" in question. Google it, and see if you find something. BTW, all my conches are the plain ole ordinary ones with 2...

to stir the sand or to not stir up the sand

I have 3 fighting conches and 2 queen conches. They do a great job of patrolling and cleaning the sand bed. Something I did, not intentionally, was mix these guys in one tank and it seems to work out well. The fighters stay out most during the day and the queens seem to be more nocturnal which...

    fighting conch question

I have 3 fighting conches and 2 queen conches. The fighting conches very seldom hide and do a great job of gently moving the top layer of sand. The queen conches must to nocturnal because they hide(buried) during the day and move about after lights out. Both IMO are good additions and seem to...

    Shrimp with shell still attached

Actually it is not harmful to feed with the shell on. In fact it is more nutritious with the shell on. I would take the head off though. Just make sure the shrimp is not gone bad, if you wouldn't eat it, neither should they. Moby

Pics Of 10 Gal Bf. Im 4 Months Young Be Nice!

He told me " Don't worry about it, they will sell quick and it isn't a problem since they share a central filter system in the back of the store". Yeah, and in the mean time these little fellows are crowded into a tiny tank, stressed from the ride to the store and now in total confusion...
