Test your water regularly, It is not unusual for a small cycle to take place after a move. Stirring up the sand bed or in this case removing it completely disrupts the bacteria. I think the only time the ammonia gets out of hand is if you are using uncured LR. In my experience otherwise there aren't any issues with excessive amounts building up. Moby
