info. on Golden Butterfly (Chaetodon semilarvatus)

Does anyone know much, or have any experience keeping a Golden Butterflyfish? (aka Semilarvatus or Addis Butterfly) I may be getting one for my 125 gal. FOWLR. Are they good eaters? Do they live long? Are they hardy? Any information please. Thanks!

what happened to my coral banded shrimp?!?!

Also, if he ever loses a leg or pincher, it will grow back within the next molting or the next few moltings. So, not only do they grow when they molt, but they can rejuvenate too.

Just got new lawnmower blenny where did he go?

probably still shy... but don't worry, they get most their diet from the algae grazing. I had one once that loved eating pieces of angel formula that fell to the bottom.

    New Tank

well that's no good... plus if it behaves like other triggers, i don't want it messing up my rock.

Will ich go away on its own?

sometimes when introducing new fish they can come down with a slight case of ich from stress that can actually go away on it's own. When I first got my regal tang I had to hospital him twice for ich, and after that he would only get a few spots on his face and body every now and then, but would...

    New Tank

that's a good fish list. won't the trigger eat the hermit crabs? go for the sohal tang!! tangs are way more active swimmers and awesome colors.

    Tank connections?!

this seems very possible. Once one has the water trapped inside the "fish highway" tube and has gotten the extra air out and a pump would have to be placed in the downstairs tank that will pump water back into the tank upstairs via another tube (a smaller tube that the fish wouldn't use) It's...

    Egg found in my tank

yes, if they've spawned once, they may spawn again. I used to have a pair of ocellaris clowns that layed eggs a few times. Never a success though... not sure why.

    Adding sand, question

Turn off the pumps so that the sand does not get sucked up. If you're adding live sand it should settle quickly. Once sand is settled, turn pumps on. Add the fish after everything is good to go. They cannot survive very long in containers alone, they will need oxygen and the heater to...

Unusual weather? I wan't your thoughts

San Antonio, TX here. Most schools, universities, and some business were closed today and are closed tomorrow due to excessive ice everywhere. It has not snowed this winter, and does not usually down here, but this ice thing seems a bit unusual. The temp. has been just below freezing for the...

Help me stock my 90 FOWLR

algaepad, your username is cool! I disagree with the others about tangs. For the most part they are peaceful towards other fish. Since you want to go with color... tangs, angels, and butterflies will be great! Also, you said you want a "mix" of color, so I wouldn't get a pair of any of the...

    Wrasse question

I have a harlequin tusk. As stated earlier, he does not require a deep sand bed. He would be a good addition to your tank. Have you looked into getting a tang? They are of the right size for your other inhabitants and they have unmatched colors! Also, since you only have fish which are (or...

Help! What are these white specs?

I am impressed with you water quality, but since the tank is so new, it probably hasn't gotten into the cycle enough yet for the ammonia or nitrite to start spiking. The little white guys are probably copepods. I usually see them come out at night on the rock and sand. They won't hurt...

    Stocking

In my opinion, you will be fine with that stock. Also, the fish you have selected should be fine. I've never had a problem with gramma, sixline, or a pair of clowns getting along.
