    Just getting started

The answer to play sand from Walmart is no. There is something in the sand that isnt good for saltwater critters. wether it be fish or inverts or corals. Dont do that. I am sure some one else will chime into this to help out but I wouldnt use regular play sand, for freshwater you could but...

    Just getting started

For the sand I would go to you local fish store and get some sand from them, do not get crushed coral. Do a search and you will see why. Get the sand that they recommend. Or maybe some members of this board can help a bit more on the sand. As for what you have. You can get started with what...

Starting to plan for 20L frag tank

I dont know about going with a bare bottom tank, but I have seen many set ups where they have rubble on the bottom of the tank so that softies and encrustin sps can spread and create new frags. then with the upper shelves pvc and egg crate is used. I think that you have the basic ideas. If...

    T5

I dont know if I would go with any sps with the 4 T-5's, but I have 6 T-5's over my 75 gallon and I have sps and clams on the bottom of my tank. In a 90 gallon I would go with at least with 6 54 watt HO T-5's, and thats with putting sps on the upper half of the tank. Might be a little...

Algae growth - what to do?

phospho ban is a good product. It helps alot. But like mentioned before in new tanks, it is very common. It doesnt look nice I know but it will go away. If using tap water, like mentioned before it will stay around, One thing you could do to get ro water is go to Walmart and they have the...

Starting to add water, quick question.

I agree, you will need something to measure the salinity with. If you have live sand or live rock you arent goign to want to mix the water and sand in the tank all at once. It will kill everyting in the rock that makes it live. But if it is a new tank then this is the only time you can do...
