Why not the sump? in most (if not all) cases the tank will have more flow and volume then the sump and it distributes the mix more quickly and evenly. You MUST is a high quality product. This means no Mrs. Wages or Balls Pickling Lime. And, why is this? I thought that the differance between Mrs...

    Water turning brownish

sounds to me more like a bacteria bloom then algae. could be something in the rock/substrate added to the tank that caused it. other things that might be a cause are decorations leaching or the use of a PO4 remover such as phosban which can turn the water brown. kc

IMO its always best to know the daily demands of your system and dose based on that. also B-Ionic isnt going to be cheap if you have a high demanding system. lets say you have a system with 100g total system volume (not tank size but system volume) and the daily demand of Ca is 25ppm. for...

    10k or 20k MH

there has been a lot of research over the past few years about coral growth in relation to lighting. while in nature tropical areas have 12 hr daylight cycles, corals do most of their calcium uptake after the first 3 hrs of light and start to drop off considerably after 6 hrs (this is in their...

IMO/IME corals use the pigmentation in their flesh to absorbe/reflect light to get/reject portions of the light for their own needs. most corals will brown up when lighting is low in order to absorbe more light from different spectrums. when in an overly abundant amount of light, they bleach...

How many shrimp for a 29 gallon reef?

i've had 6 mid sized Pep shrimp and a large CBS in my 29g for about 2 yrs now and while they constantly spawn the larva are consumed by the fish or get damaged by the powerheads before they reach full 'shrimp' like critters (they go through many molts before they look anything like a shrimp) in...

    Skimmer question

not to sure about a 'Big Mombasa' but no skimmer should change water level just from unplugging it and re inserting the plug after a cleaning of the collection cup. water flow into the pump and air into the venture should always be the same unless you have something causing problems such as...

    Mushroom moved to sandbed?

they usualy move when they get crowded as a means of self propagation. let them float around the tank and they'll find a place to attach. if you dont want them just anywhere take them and place them in a container with rubble and place it back in the tank in low flow for a few weeks while they...
