    Gotta love Garlic

Connie, I've found water-soluble garlic extracts to be a little kinder on my skimmer. Hope this helps?

    Eliminating Nitrates

I fight these same battles with 1 of my tanks. Hmmm... let's see... 1. A Deep Sand Bed allows populations of Nitrate-Eating bacteria to thrive. Many reefers, including yours-truly, repot successes with this advance. 2. Are you using treated tap water? If so, test it. Your tap water may be...

    Is this true????

BTW, Here are the clowns I mentioned above... The Clowns look small, because the Anemone is huge. [ June 08, 2001: Message edited by: tangs_in_pacifica ] [ June 08, 2001: Message edited by: tangs_in_pacifica ]

    Is this true????

I've now got three pairs of clowns (1 pr. percs, 1 pr. Maroons and 1 mixed Perc/Oscellaris). In my 100 gal. I started out with a pr. of Oscellaris. They were fine for ~ 1 year and bonded to become 1 big Famale and small Male). After ~ 1 year, I threw an Oscelaris into the mix, figuring the...

To Upgrade or not to Upgrade.......

I agree with Seadaddy, think about the size tank you want to be in carefully. You may just want to bit the bullet and go with a 75, 100, 180, etc. 46-72 isn't that much of an upgrade for the buck you'll spend. You might as well go big. Just my $.02

    Price Question

My guess is you'll want to be replacing everything, but the tank in the first month. IMPHO, $239 doesn't sound like a good deal for a 55 gal tank. Since that's about the only useful part of the setup, I'd hold off. If you want a deal, look fo an established (i.e. used) setup.

    Rio Horror Stories?

I often hear people mention problems with Rios shocking tank inhabitants, etc., but I haven't actually talked to anyone that's had it happen to them. Has anybody here had a Rio cause serious problems in their tanks? I worry, because I have a bunch of Rios.

    Feeding anemone's

BTW, I seem to recall reading somewhere that White isn't a good color for these guys. This often means that they've expelled a lot of the benefifial Algae that they use for Photo-Feeding. When I first got mine, it was an Ivoryt color. Now, it's brown. You'll probably need to make sure that...

    Feeding anemone's

I have a huge Sebae that's been in my tank for ~ 2 years. It's sitting high in my tank, so it gets a lot of Photo-feeding time. I assume it also benefits from the occasional Micro-Vert that I feed my corals. I've noticed my clowns will bring back a lot of food to feed it as well. So, I don't...

    Ich infested tank!!!!

Given the severity of your infestation, I'm not sure it will be THE fix, but it will definately help. Try looking up garlic in other posts on this board. My practice if to soak their typical foods in water-soluble garlic. You can even infuse live brine shrimp with the stuff. Some people...

    Too Much Pump?

If the overflow isn't built in, two are certainly better than one. That way, if one overflow clogs of loses suction, you've got a spare working. Of course, one of them should at least be rated in the same ballpark as the sump. Also, doing things like adding one or two of those rotator...

    Homemade Omnivore Marine Recipes?

    Gotta love Garlic

Playtime, Great news! Keep up the regular garlic feedings for about a month so the parasites don't re-attach. They haven't actually died, they've just recoiled because of the repellent qualities of garlic. You'll have to continue feedings to ensure their eggs don't hatch and come back to...

    JBJ retro compare to customsealife

I've spoken with a few knowledgeable people at Bay area LFSs and they say that, while JBJ's qualityy was initially shite, it's gotten much better. Two of my tanks run Custom Sea Life and they do allright. One of my tanks has a cheapo D.I.Y. brand that's fine as well. As for the fan in the JBJ...

Hey, my tank after 4 months - what a difference (pics)

Hey Bayouguy, Whereyat? I grew up in Jefferson Parish, but left about 17 years ago. I miss it, but still get down there for the family and food every now and then. Hopefully, I'll be back in October. My Papa says the Reds and Specs are runnin' better than they have in 20 years! Think I'll be...
