    Still Struggling w/ Fuge!

the plants are to scrub nitrites from the water, if your tank hasn't fully cycled, then you probably don't have a lot yet. Also, If the plants are removing it, you might not see an ammonia spike, so it will be harder to tell when your cycle is done. IMO it doesn't matter when, but might be...

    diy closed loop

Norway, Keep an eye on those hose clamps. Since they are inside the canopy, they are probably going to get a lot of moisture and splashing. They will rust pretty quickly. I'm sure they were called "stainless steel", and they are, but the screw isn't. I just changed mine out last week, they...

my 29 gal, one week old

yes yes yes. lr needs the lights. Don't do what I did. I kept the lights off during cycling thinking it would keep away the algea bloom. All it did was slowly kill off my lr which kept poluting my tank which kept the cycle going...I had a 4-5month cycle and couldn't figure out why, when I...

    flatworms-good or bad?

I have been searching past threads on flatworms and really didn't get any useful info. My question is, why are the red ones so bad and the white ones are safe? What is the difference? I have noticed quite a few white ones, will they get on my fish? Any info to clear this up would be great. matt

QT who uses and who don't and why?

I don't think you need to have it set up all the time if your done stocking. The question is, how fast can you set it back up if a fish gets sick. Using water from the main tank, it doesnt take any time at all.
