600 gph would be more than plenty for the Chaeto.

    need help with plumbing 240

I have a similar setup, but a smaller tank. I used two smaller pumps only because if one pump goes out I wanted to still have enough flow to keep everything alive. You could also set one side up as a closed circuit and use only one side for the sump.

    My own newbie thread

In general Cleaner Wrasse feed on the slime coating of large fish. They typically starve in anything but large tanks with many large fish. There are many species of Cleaner Wrasse and they do not all look alike.

Increase waterflow to the area and reduce Phosphates.

What kind of algae is this??

Is your filter in good condition? Have you tested the RO water for PO4?

What kind of algae is this??

I'm guessing it's Cyanobacteria. If it wipes off easily that's probably it. From the location in your tank I suspect it is caused by a combination of insufficient waterflow and abundant phosphate. The phosphate is probably from your tap water or you are overfeeding.

    Nitrate levels

I think of it like smog. A small amount of smog is harmless to a healthy person short term. It's not harmless long term nor is a lot of smog harmless to someone that is not at the peak of health.

I once came out of the basement to the Sheriff. I showed him the lagoon and he just laughed.

I'm new, tank test level questions

I tend to do the opposite and have lots of snails and no hermits. That's just personal preference though. I used to have a lagoon I kept and it had one hermit crab. That seemed to be the right ratio. It was 64 square feet of surface area and thousands of snails with one hermit.

I'm new, tank test level questions

Percula have the best chance of doing well in a 10 gallon tank. None of the other Clownfish would do as well. Hermits are predators. Even a well fed cat will go after a mouse.

I'm new, tank test level questions

One or two Percula Clownfish will work. I would not recommend any other types of Clownfish for that tank. I'm sure you've heard it before, 10 gallon tanks are difficult. Don't be surprised if the Hermits start eating the Snails.

I'm new, tank test level questions

Have you been ghost feeding the tank? Have you decided on what fish you're going to keep?

    tomato clown behaviour

I agree with everything Pegasus mentioned. I would add some semantics - if they have never bred then they are not a mated pair. Sounds like they are a bonded pair though.

Question about calcium and other additives.

I have, for the past 35 years, attempted to maintain a balance between Calcium and Alkalinity for reef tanks. Here are my thoughts: Corals and other Calcium carbonate builders use Calcium and Carbonate in nearly the same proportion. So when 100ppm of Calcium is used, about 100ppm of Carbonate...
