    Pickling Lime

On advice in another thread, I got some Ball's pickling lime. Question is...ingredients say "hydrated lime"...how do I know that this is pure CaOH? For anyone who uses it, how do you know? (besides from the words of other members) Also, Kip, if you're reading, I know you said you prefer Mrs...

    good kalk brand

My understanding is that supermarket pickling lime is popular b/c it is cheap, not necessarily high quality? But then again, it also comes down to does it really matter?

    good kalk brand

I'm perhaps going to give kalk dripping a try and wanted some opinions on brands of kalk. What brands are good (purity, etc)? Not necessarily what you use, but what is known to be of quality? Am I making a bigger deal out of it than it needs? I always like to research things to death before...

    Propagating Candy Cane Corals

I think you would be surprised...even the thicker based ones are still pretty easy to snap with your hands. It's probably the easiest and cleanest way to do it.

    ocellaris tumbling in circles

Can anyone tell me what is wrong with this fish? I've had him for ~5 years. The tank lights are off, I turned on the room lights and he was twisting, turning, and tumbling upside down and in circles really fast. As I am typing now, he is calm and resting in a colt coral. I have noticed some...

99.99% sure it is not cyano. I also would never put any chemicals in the tank to solve the algae problem. You have to fix the problem.

Anyone know about XM metal halide bulbs?

I'm not getting the radium b/c I don't have a hqi ballast. I only mention it b/c I've seen it - just wanted a comparison of that to the xm's.

Anyone know about XM metal halide bulbs?

Yeah, I read that the 20k are more like 14k, but I'm a little curious at how the 10k's run. I couldn't find any past posts on it. Another option for me is to use the 20k and supplement with actinic white vho's. I just don't want to sacrifice to much growth for looks. Also, compared to 20k...

Anyone know about XM metal halide bulbs?

also, I've been reading past posts about the XM's and all of them seem to be about the 20k (acting more like a 14k). Any info/insight on the 10k XM? DvSKIN - do you have the 20k or 10k?

Anyone know about XM metal halide bulbs?

I've always used Ushio 250 watt 10k bulbs (2) supplemented with two actinic 03 VHO's for my 90gal. One of my bulbs just burned out, so I am going to order replacements for both. Anyone have any experience with XM halide bulbs? A store online is selling them for $65 and the Ushio's are $87. Any...
