it could also just be that your tank is getting used to the right color lights. If your other lights were really old they had probably shifted out of the apropriate color. Now that you have the new lights your tank is going to take a while to adjust. That is why you hear about people burning...

Free is a very good price. It would be worth it even if the light didn't look exactly right. Eventualy you could purchase one more 250 and put the 250's on the end and the 400 in the middle.
