    Plumbing

I just got done with my plumbing, so I though I would show some pics. I realy like how it turned out, even though it looks like a mess. It is all piped into the closet, so I can just shut the door and not look at it. I do have one question though, does anyone know how to fix a leak in pvc? One...

    Adding Fish

Ok, so I have a 30 gal tank that has been setup for a couple months now and I am looking to introduce my first fish. I only want 2 or 3 really nice looking fish. I am giong to have it set up for more aggressive reef safe fish. I am not going to have any shrimp, so I was thinking of adding a...

    bubbles everywere

yah, same water, but I was thinking because the flow is so low in the fuge it wouldn't be as effective. I didn't know, so I figured I would ask.

    bubbles everywere

I have a problem. I just set up a new sump and the prefilter box for my skimmer doesn't fit in it. If I don't use the box the tank fills up with little bubles. Do you think if I moved the skimmer to my fuge it would work effectivily? My fuge is low flow <100 gph, because it is only a ten gallon...

Current USA Orbit PC Fixtures with Lunar Lights

There are many different ways to keep things healthy in your tank. I have seen sweetreef's tank and it is beautiful, so obviously you don't have to have sumps or fuges. The reason I would suggest it, is because with a small tank and halides you will have a high evaporation. I have a 30 gal...

Current USA Orbit PC Fixtures with Lunar Lights

It isn't just light with clams. Lights are a big part, but clams need a very stable and mature system. Unless you are planning on adding some water resevours (sump, refuge) then I don't think a 20 gal tank with halides over the top of it would work. For one thing the temp would be hard to...

    Ideas on a first fish

I was thinking I would get the clown last so that all the other fish would have there teriotory and the clown wouldn't be as likely to be teritorial.

    Ideas on a first fish

I was thinking about a dottyback with the maroon because they can both be aggressive, but would a firefish be OK with those guys? I am only looking for maybe three to five fish total in the tank.

    Ideas on a first fish

Thanks for the suggestions. I think a purple firefish would be really cool too. The only problem I can see is that they are pretty expensive and if my tank has any problems at the begining they might not make it. I don't forsee any problems, but you know how this hobby is. Ary they very hardy? I...

    Ideas on a first fish

That is interesting because I moved about three months ago and had to get rid of everything in my tank, but before I moved I had percs and a six line. I loved those fish. My sixline took a jump out of the tank though and into fish heaven. I was very sad. It will be a reef tank. Right now I just...

    Ideas on a first fish

My tank has been cycled for a couple weeks now and I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on what my first fish should be. I have a thirty gallon tank with a 15gal sump and a 10 gal fuge. I am looking for something that is not too shy and really colorful. I am thinking of puting a maroon clown...

150 Watts over the 12G Nano

corals bleach for a lot of reasons, but one of the theories is that when the coral has a lot of light they stop producing zooxanthelae (which is brown) and become a more white color. On the subject of too much light, I have a 250 watt hqi over a 30gal cube and it is just fine. I don't even have...

    Bought new bulbs and..

it could also just be that your tank is getting used to the right color lights. If your other lights were really old they had probably shifted out of the apropriate color. Now that you have the new lights your tank is going to take a while to adjust. That is why you hear about people burning...

    is this lighting overkill?

I guess I miss read one of your questions too. I have my light about 8" above the water.

    is this lighting overkill?

Sorry, I wasn't meaning that all of that detail was stated earlier, just that I have a 250 watt hqi over a small tank with no real problems. I was just elaborating on why I think those lights would be alright.

    is this lighting overkill?

Like I said on earlier in the thread, I have a 250 watt de hqi over an 18" deep tank. I added the light and a fan at the same time and my temp actualy went down. My room is pretty warm because I have reptiles with heat lamps in the same room and I can keep my water at about 78 without any...

    is this lighting overkill?

Free is a very good price. It would be worth it even if the light didn't look exactly right. Eventualy you could purchase one more 250 and put the 250's on the end and the 400 in the middle.
