    I hate my LFS

Well I am sticking with what I have now. This salt water only store gave me this advice and I think I am going to stick with it since they have been in business for quite some time and all of their tanks use the same system. Here is what I essentially did to build the plenum. 1. Get 1/2 round...

    I hate my LFS

Well, I found a really great salt water only store that people travel far and wide to visit for their selection. Upon talking to some of the "guru's" at this place I found the system i had in place was less than adequate. The LFS failed to mention about gasses that can be created with a...

    Cycle Time

I had 20 lbs of Natures Ocean I believe and 40 lbs of Live Rock when I started my 70 gallon tank. My system never cycled and has been stable for about 1 1/2 months now. Only problem I am having right now is algae, but as of tomorrow my new cleanup crew will be here to take care of that pesky...

    What to do?

The tank has already been through it's cycle and all levels are good. This is the only reason I am adding critters already. All levels are fine, but I was also told to do water changes (10%) monthly, and since my cycle has been done since the first week, it has actually been about 7 weeks since...

    What to do?

The levels Nitrates, Nitrites, PH and such are all normal. I dont have a calcium or phosphate test kit to test those levels but everything else is good. I will do a partial water change and add a bigger cleanup crew and see if that helps. --Andy

    moving help

I just recently completed a move due to new carpeting that took me 4 days. Here is what I would suggest if you can do this. 1. Go to the local hardware store and buy a couple 18 gallon rubbermaid containers with lids. 2. Syphon water from your tank into these containers then place the live rock...

    Live Rock

At that low of a price? Are you sure it was live rock from a salt water tank or ocean? That is awfully cheap, I would double check it's origin to make sure everything is ok. --Andy

    LR Growth

So is this also a sign that all conditions are right? Is there something that causes this that I might be doing incorrectly, or this just all part of it? Just curious. --andy

    LR Growth

Ok I have a couple of questions. On my live rock I have noticed some green grass like growth on my rock. This does not really look like algae as far as I can tell, what could this be ? Caulerpa? Also I noticed a could of almost see through green balls on the rock about the size of a pen tip...

    Hoooray

Thanks for the comments. I was lucky that I took a week and asked for your suggestions. The move was only successful to do all of your comments on the best way to move everything. Pufferlover: You are correct, the part that was the worst was the worrying about what was going on. Wondering...

    Hoooray

Just thought I would let you all know that the fish are doing great after the move. They wound up being left in rubbermaid containers for 3 days due to a slooooow carpet installer, but things are going good. Put them all back in today. I think I might have lost a couple of snails because the...

    The Big Move -- Status

So far everything is living although not sure about the snails and such. I do not have a heater in the tanks with the snails and such, but the fish and everything are going back in tonight. Am I going to have any problems with the cycle or anything again? They fish and everything are in the...

    Underground filteration???

Most people do not use undergravel filtration because most people use sand or coral which is kinda difficult to clean. I would suggest for them to get a wet/dry filter a good base of sand and a fair amount of live rock. This should help quite a bit. Just my opinion. --andy P.S. And after his...
