What color is the skimmate the over producer is producing? If it is clearish..then could be the mold inhibitors etc on the material used to make the skimmer with reacting...if this is the case, it will clear itself up pretty quickly, if the water is darker..then it is working as intended...also...

Either higher kelven...12k and up, or 10k with Actinic 03 supplementation...if you are using normal flourescents...swap one of them out with 100% Actinic...should blue things up a bit.

You may also take them to your local LFS and see if they would be interested in them...get a store credit or something...

You need circulation for any heater to work properly...

The vendor relayed to me Kent is sending me a new one and provided the tracking number...wonder if some weld-on would repair it???

It is completely severed from the base...the vendor I ordered it from is working it for me... I got another Little Giant 4-MDQX-SC series pump for it...it is the same pump I use for the tank so I figured it would be a back up in a pinch until I could get another one in case the primary failed.

And leave the chemistry to the chemists....

triggers will rid your tank quickly of a nasty shrimp/hermit problem...

Cool fish...from what I have read though...most gobies and dart fish are decent to keep....there is the occassional exception of course...but from what S. Michael represents...most are not too difficult to keep.

I get that sometimes with the MEI Crystal Sea salt...I contacted MEI and it was explained to me it is Iron precipitating from the water caused possibly by polyphosphates the water company adds to keep metals from binding with the pipes...once it hits the saline solution it dumps these...

I think as a general rule...from the day you purchase and set it up...to the day it starts leaking without you breaking it..that would be a good lifespan...in other words...there are way too many variables to determine an age of a tank...exterior climate, how it is leveled, so on and so on...

If it has ich...chances are good it will die...but you never know...it could survive...follow the above advice on the nutrition and have a good clean up crew...

Yeah...got the skimmer yesterday...the entire main cylinder is broken from the bottom...I think when they wrapped it in bubble wrap they did it a little too tight... I researched alot of skimmers and didn't really understand the prices of the Euro's, Precision Marine, LifeReef and the other big...

I assembled them together...then put them on the floor and gave them a good rap...dont know how far in they went...but i took them apart awhile back to clean them and re-position them...and it was hard to get them apart...also...when you clean it...you may try fillinging the canister to the rim...

Try sealing the intake tubes with a small amount of silicon...I have an XP3 and have never had any problem as you mentioned...and mine is a little over 2 years old.

The LED technology for actual lighting uses is I believe pretty new. I read previously (dont recall where) about a company researching the LED's for entire tank lighting...one thing they did mention was a difficult time finding LED's big enough to accomplish such a thing currently...I am sure...

If you can catch him...fw dip him...then put him in a QT with anti-biotics to prevent/treat secondary infections/injuries caused by the ich... When you fw dip him...ensure the water is dechlorinated and at the proper temp...keep a close eye on the fish, and do not exceed 3 minutes or so... As...

You may also try raising the VHO's above the tank if they are not already.
