    southdown sand

Mikester311 Yardrite and Southdown (the harder one to find) are usually sold in Home Depot. Not sure what an equivelent brand would be. You are basically looking for a tropical Play sand which is taken from the ocean.

    southdown sand

Just a note, Southdown is very hard to find unless you live in the North East. You may want to look for Yardrite. it is made by the same company and is suposed to be the same as southdown.

    Nitrates

use good Ro/Di water and watch your feedings. Most of the nitrate removers advertised don't seem to work too well. I've had the same problem for a couple of years as I was using tap water.

Suggestions needed in how to get carbon into my tank.

I do the same thing with my setup. Just stick in filter bag in area of high water flow. For carbon it seams like a lot of folks are using Marineland's Black Diamond brand.

Is is possable to upgrade the Rio 600rvt on the skimmer to a MaxiJet 900 or 1200 with the Venturi kit? I was thinking that it might be worth a try and if it doesn't work I will just have a spare pump for circulation. Thanks, Rob

Most of the brands that I have seen have expiration dates on them. Kordon products for example last about 2 to 3 years.

    which angel

Try a Pigmy angel. I had mine for about a year. He's rather peaceful and insn't a picky eater. I didn't have much luck with a Coral Beauty a couple of years ago either. He lasted a couple of months.
