    Are metal halides dangerous?

Well maybe not dangerous. I am just curious if anyone has ever heard of a metal halide bulb exploding from being so hot and then having water splash on it. Do the bulbs get that hot? How far above the water should the bulb be mounted? Do you have glass between the bulb and the water?

A question for the metal halide, ballast specialists.

The place where I work is changing all the ceiling lights. They are metal halides, some are 250 watts and some are 400. I took a few of the 250s apart and saw that the only components that make up the ballast are a transformer and a capacitor. I stripped a few of them and brought the components...

    humane way to kill fish

I was also taught that the freezer was the humane way. Put it in a ziploc bag with some tank water and then put it in the freezer. It will slowly go to sleep as it freezes.

I am curious why my post was deleted along with Ryan Hayes question about how old Royal Gang is. Let someone know that their thread is rude and arrogant and your post gets deleted instead of the rude ones? Some moderation. I expect this post will get deleted also.

    Engineer gobie.

Thats why they are called Engineer Gobies, they are constantly building. Mine are always moving the sand around. They are fun to watch though. You should give it a second thought before getting rid of it. You could always shorten the intake tube for the filter so that it doesnt reach the sand bed.

    Storeing RO/DI

I have a 20 gal trash can that I mix water in. I just dump RO water in the can and let it sit until I am ready to add in salt. Then I turn on a PH to mix the salt and water. The saltwater usually mixes for a day, sometimes two before I do a water change. Leaving the water sit for a week or two...

    waste RO water , useless?

I run the drain line into my washing machine whenever I make RO water. I actaully benefit from this because I dont waste any water and the water is harder which softens your clothes when doing wash. I also use the water to do water changes on my daughters goldfish tank. Them goldfish will live...
