Valentini puffer, what kind of personality do they have?

I doubt they would mess with the fish. Mine is almost a p*ssy. On the other hand, it would make short work out of any inverts you have.

    Coralife 2x9w pc's?

Hey, fishkiller, Do you work at the Pet Store in Athens? I go to Georgia Tech and stop by there on my way home to Washington occasionally (I was there today actually). Anyway, I was just wondering. I never noticed that before. Craig

    screw in power compact

http://www.1000bulbs.com/shopping/sh...000+Hour+Life+ That is where I got the 6500K 27W screw in bulb. There are also 42W 6500K bulbs somewhere on that same site. I got the 13W bookworm from Home Depot. They are called Rite Lights and are in the trouble light sections. It is a clear tube...

    screw in power compact

I use two of the coralife 10W 50/50 bulbs in addition to a 27W curly 6700K screw in and a 13W actinic bookworm on my 10gal. It seems to be working pretty well so far.

    pics of your 10 gallons

I am kinda embarrassed to post mine since it just started. Any tips would be appreciated. For those of you who have read my "rookie Mistake" thread you know that the frogspawn is no longer in there.

    rookie mistake

Oh by the way, thanks for all the replies. Sorry for being such a dummy. Maybe I should have stuck to FO. Oh and by the way, should I get the Coral Propogation book when I go hear Anthony Calfo speak in a few weeks. I don't really know much about him but apparenly he has a pretty good book.

    rookie mistake

I am a newbie at reefkeeping but am a stickler for researching my new additions. I had my frogspawn high in the tank and not particularly close to anything. It would have been fine but the frogspawn was a victim to my lack of experience and research. It now appears my prize ricordea will be...

    rookie mistake

Water changes adds calcium back to the tank via the salt mix. I am now dosing with Seachem Reef Advantage Calcium. My alkalinity is fine. I have been testing for that and it is a bit high so why would I dose it. I do normally dose it as needed though.

    rookie mistake

I have been running my nano for about 4 months now and recently added my first corals other than my ricordea I have had for a while now. I added a frogspawn, two more ricordea, zooanthids, a candy cane, GSP, and xenia. I know this is a lot to add at one time but they were all really tiny frags...

    Rics Anyone?

My LFS here in Atlanta sells rics for $8 a polyp cherry picked. I went in the other day and picked up a green ric with three mouths that was about 2.5"x1" and also and blue one with red undertone (2" round). I thought it was an awesome deal but maybe they are just common colors.

    skilter?

I bought a Skilter hoping that using my "engineering ingenuity" I would be able to make it skim. I failed. I modified it using a limewood airstone and it fills the collection plate with water while before it filled it with nothing. It still fills the tank with tiny bubbles although it is not...

Going From FreshWater to SaltWater Tank

Are you going to be putting any live rock in at any point? It is a good biological filter and a great companion to protien skimmer. It also looks really cool. If this is the case then put the fish in some smaller tank until it cycles or take them back to the fish store for credit. If you are...

    Dead Juvi Clown Trigger

So I bought this baby clown trigger from swf.com and kept him for 3+ months with no problems (alwasy ate well and swam all over the place, no disease). Earlier this week I noticed that he was not around as much and he was hiding. Today I saw him and he was floating and it had a skinny stomach...

    Neophyte here - please help

Just a suggestion, but IME whenever I have tried tangs with my triggers and aggressive fish they have not done well. Probably a mix between not pristeen water conditions and being stressed from aggressive tankmates. It also seems like a few many fish. Also maroon clown may be too small. Now...

    New 10 gal nano

I currently just have two astrea snails but I haven't really had that much to clean as of yet. I will probably get two hermits eventually. You are right, everyone has their own way of doing things many of which are successful. Get ideas from the successful ones and chose the one that is the...

    New 10 gal nano

The tank is doing great. It just got finished cycling and coralline is beginning to form on the glass a little and all over my LR. A tank like this will work but it definately will take a lot of research and attention to detail and a lot of time. Minor mistakes in a larger reef tank are major...

    Skimmer or Wet/Dry

I am currently running the Oceanic75 wet/dry trickle filter on my 75 gallon FO aggressive tank. I recently traded my UV sterilizer for a Sealife Systems NV150 skimmer hoping to fit it in the sump part of the wet dry but it was barely too large to fit. Would it be more benefitial to continue...

    need help ID'ing a fish

I would take the cucumber back to the LFS. Although they can be used as a part of a clean up crew, I personally don't think it is worth the risk for an experienced aquarist. If they become stressed or die they will release toxins that will kill all life in your tank. The fact that you are...
