    byrself--a specific question for you

you mentioned the ---- vendor for your lights--if you have a 20 gal long tank, are your lights the 11" wide set? do you have that much room? We have a 37 gal tank which measures the same as our 20 gal long and it looks like there is only 9" of width avail on top due to filter, etc. Can you...

    current ?

well, you could always turn down the powerhead if it has an adjustment or aim it a bit more away from the coral and see if that changes anything, just a thought.

    Need help on first fish

If you choose to take any of these back to the store, I would advise you not to replace with a Domino damsel. In my experience (limited!) they are just as bad or worse than the Humbug. You might consider green chromis, they are inexpensive but more placid. Not as exotic looking, but a good...

    Holes?

we have seen that behavior with damsels, as far as I know they are just making a comfy place. You may find them spending the night in those spots. Good Luck. Keep asking, you will learn tons from this board.

Where does live rock come from?

can't answer your question directly, but some sites offer rock that was "seeded" and then harvested some time later. This was our preference when we bought rock, felt it was more environmentally friendly.

Safe to add more LR while tank cycling?

another reason NOT to add rock a little at a time--if you have most of it at once, you can scope out what pieces you might like for base and what pieces you might like for tops--wouldn't you just know it, you will get a great base piece in your final shipment and then you'd feel obligated to...

    Live rock.

was that way more information than you asked for?

    Live rock.

most people will tell you that it doesn't matter if cured or uncured--you still have to isolate it at home to deal with any die-off from shipping. We put our 30# (from another site actually) in an old 20 gal we had with a heater, powerhead and a small cheap filter ( some say skip the filter)...

    Current at night?

Ha! funny you should mention this, my daughter has two powerheads in her 37 gal tank which is in her bedroom. One squeaks a little, so we've started turning that one off at night for her comfort, not the fishes!!!!

    dieing Snails

We had three turbo snails before we had any live rock--they were initially great at cleaning the brown algae off the glass, but they eventually all croaked--we thought there wasn't enough for them to eat--even with some supplemental dried seaweed in the tank.

    medusa worm (cucumber)......

tried to look up a pic and found the yellow listed as a different species than the brown or black, so maybe my lfs was wrong on the yellow changing color. Wouldn't hurt to ask just to be sure.

    medusa worm (cucumber)......

Just saw two bright yellow ones at our lfs--about a half an inch long--they said they will lose that color and turn grey as they mature. We got some as hitchikers (adult) and they are not attractive. Not sure what their function is. If they are helpful in your tank, thats fine, but don't count...

    Dissappearing feather dusters

now I'm just guessing--could they have outgrown those tubes and relocated somewhere else in the tank?

    Mystery crab

try this link--there are several pics of crabs. I almost think ours is sort of like a hairy crab and sort of like a porcelain crab. <a href="http://www.museum.vic.gov.au/crust/mov713i.html" target="_blank">http://www.museum.vic.gov.au/crust/mov713i.html</a>

    Mystery crab

I'm fairly certain that the one in our tank is NOT a decorator crab. Not enough junk on him! But he does have very hairy legs. Will look up a pic of a stone crab. Keep those guesses coming!

    Dissappearing feather dusters

you may be looking at a kind of tube worm. They retract that fan when jostled or threatened, the fan comes out again. check this site to compare pics: <a href="http://livingreefimages.com/Page60.html" target="_blank">http://livingreefimages.com/Page60.html</a>
