no answer but same ? what is a great skimmer not good for a 75?

I have the same problem with a reef octopus skimmer. Not new and no adjustment for flow. I guess a new skimmer is the only way out. Any suggestions on a new skimmer for a 75 gal. Hang on back is necessary and rating needs to be for more than a 75 of course.

I had a problem with my protectors also. The drip loop and plastic inserts for unused plugins no more problems.

How does a diatom look different from a brown algae on the sand ?

I suppose all circumstances can differ but I have moved my frogspawn 3 or 4 times in the last 2 weeks and it still opens fully. Moved for different reasons like new additions. Not sure of what the problem with yours may be. As a rule you should leave it in one spot at least for a while.

If what you are seeing is around the size of maybe a pencil eraser then I would say not ich. If its the white patch 1 big splotch then I dont think so. Ich is the only problem I have any real experience with. It may be something else.

Sorry cant see the spots. Does it look like he was sprinkled with a salt shaker? Ich is around the size of a grain of salt and white.

Never tried the freshwater dip. I would say this is probably at the very least stressful to the fish. The amount of time he would have to soak in order to kill any parasite especially ich may kill him to. I believe ich is buried and not on the surface. So it may be hard to freshwater dip...

The leak appeared to be at the bottom seal so all the water would have to be removed with everything else. The skimmer air intake was stopped up and over flowed the water. No leak nice ending.

The only experience I had with that was diatoms. Have you checked your phosphates?
