hello!! acually only the bottom of most tanks is tempered and the rest is not so you can drill in the back or sides if need be. i dont however know of any glass shops in dallas as i live something like 2000 miles away!!! :D

there are lots of ways to make an overflow less noisy. you can use filterfloss. Or the porceline balls they make for canister filters also work well.

i was wondering about that too. would it be better to use 2 45's to lessen the the curve?

new? what are you talking about? you can run an overflow with just pvc? it sounds like it could work but what would be the gph? how could you get a substantial amount of water running through something like that?
